Hm... A story about my world... There's the Flower of the Plateau.
[ She leans back, closing her eyes so her hair falls away. And she takes a deep breath. ]
It's a short story, about a prostitute. She left behind that life, tired of the abuse faced under it. And she ran away to a town at the foot of a plateau called Calgaround. There, she became a florist. Her past had made her familiar with flowers. She became known for an angelic smile and a kind demeanor, and she cared and gave to all she could. This caused her to become known as the Flower of the Plateau, and she gained the attention of the local lord.
[ Mmmm, but it's a sad tale, is it not? ]
...As she grew close, and became engaged to the lord, a man who owned a brothel she worked at happened to arrive in town. And he recognized her. But before he could spread tales of her job as a prostitute, she murdered him. She disposed of his body in the local well, and washed her hands of him. All was well for a time, until one day a boy came to town looking for his mother who had abandoned him. Realizing it was her own son from her past, she murdered him, too, and hid his body in the well. And finally, realizing that her husband began to suspect her past, she murdered him, too, with a poison brewed from her flowers.
[ ...A moment of quiet. ]
...The Flower of the Plateau ended up destroying her own happiness because she feared her past so. This is the fictional account of a historical figure, based on bodies found in the well later and some missing people. As well, the mysterious circumstances of her husband's death....
