[Perhaps it says something that there's something akin to relief - or, perhaps, recognition. That hostility and confusion is more akin to what they were accustomed to, in Buried Time. Its absence was not unwelcome, but it was a shift they'd struggled to accept.]

[Now, it is a familiarity. that lends them a foundation.]

[The white glare of a pale curve in the semidarkness arrests them. They know others with that look to them. But neither of them could speak.]

[Neither can they.]

[The Drifter does the one thing they can think of to do. Without a means of communicating what they must, with the light as low as it is and no guarantee that the other party will be able to read whatever they display, with no guarantee that there is no current danger present, they do the next best thing.]

[They spin their sword and bury it into the stone underfoot.]

[They will not attack unless you do.]
