In theory, yes, they could, if it would further the ultimate goals of both the Shadow and the Light. As they want to force the real version of them to accept the unpleasant and most pleasant aspects of themselves, respectively, any interactions with one Shadow (or Light) has with another would in all likelihood be to that end in some way.
