i. cat experiments.
[It's a good thing Adam's dreaming, and it's an even better thing that the dream isn't of his usual sort. Adam has an unfortunate tendency to hear the whispers of Hell in his head when he dreams. He wasn't sure if he still would now, but so far what he's seen seems to be fantastical in a very practical way, which is perfect for his tastes.

For example, he and Dog, his mixed terrier of a Hell Hound, have happened upon what might have been a cat's answer to Adam's beast, if Adam hadn't decided he'd rather have fun with his dog than go about bringing hellfire down upon the world with him. It's like someone's taken every cat in the world and jumbled them up together into... well, not one cat, it seems, but certainly one form.

Dog doesn't seem too impressed with it, regardless. He's currently growling at the cat-goop, while Adam tries to hold his leash tight so that he doesn't go after it. As the catmalgamate undulates across the roots and green of the forest floor, Dog starts to bark at it.

Down, boy! Down! You know you're not meant to be goin' after cats.

[Dog is normally very obedient to whatever Adam says. That might be because they're meant to be together. Or, it could just be because when Adam decides something is true, it is true.

Either way, Dog is apparently much too riled up by the news that cats can come in All form. He's pulling against his leash so hard that Adam is left dragging his feet against the grass, furrowing his brow at his pet.

ii. it's getting closer.

[Being from a very, very small town in England, just a few kilometres away from the road connecting Oxford and London, Adam has never actually encountered a carnival. He hardly goes to the city; his father is very much a homebody, and his mother is normally the one to accompany him when he does. Which means he would normally be going out to accompany her on errands.

Of course, Adam is familiar with the concept of a carnival. One even appeared in a story he wrote once, though he mostly guessed at what one might be like, and even then it only appeared so that the cowboys could fight the clowns.

This one seems like it has a lot less clowns in general. The cotton candy is very good, though, so that makes up for it. One of the stall workers had even procured a paper bowl to put water in for Dog at his request.

As he sits on a bench and haphazardly stuffs sugary pink fluff into his mouth, he's eyeing the Ferris wheel. This would be a lot more fun if his friends were here to ride it with him, but Adam supposes if he really needed them, he could just dream them up too.
