State of the Game: January to February

STATE OF THE GAME

Some Quick Notes
First of all, to anyone who may have missed our announcement on plurk, we'd like to confirm (belatedly) that AC has been waived for the month of December due to the business of the holidays. If you have any concerns about your AC in this or any coming months, please don't hesitate to reach out! We're happy to hash things out with you as needed.

Secondly, the NPC known as "Water" now has an INBOX for you to contact them whenever you wish! This may be increasingly useful in the interest of procuring answers...

And Now, a Heads Up!
Hello, adventurers, and welcome to a very important State of the Game. Due to multiple factors (many of which are extenuating), we've reached a decision regarding LifeAftr's natural lifespan. As you might have gathered from the increased rates of clues we've been dropping into the metaplot, things have started to accelerate to that point. This is more expedited than we'd initially expected, but unfortunately it's simply become necessary. Some of us saw our mental health taking significant nosedives while others have found ourselves being pulled away by real life obligations, so in short, we feel that we cannot collectively run this game to its initially planned endgame.

However, we also don't want to rush the game's ending either, which is why we're doing our best to give you as significant a warning as possible! We currently have the game scheduled to reach its endgame in about five to six months, in May or June of 2020 at the absolute latest. This is the most that we feel we can continue to run things while tying as many loose ends as possible and allowing people the time to seek narrative closure for whatever character arcs they might have planned. The game, as it stands now, does have multiple endings - it will be up to you as players and your characters, to decide how the story of LifeAftr finally ends!

From the bottom of our hearts, we'd like to thank each and every one of you, our players. It has been a consistent and heartfelt honor to work with a playerbase so creative, so vibrant, and so unceasingly kind to one another. Thank you to everyone who has ever asked questions, who has ever given feedback, who has ever contributed plot ideas, and who has ever played on our shores. You are all truly the lifeblood of the game, and it wouldn't be the same without you.

Logistics & Scheduling
So what does this mean for the game in the interim?

Well, first off, we do have a schedule blocked out for each monthly event and plot progression, which will largely continue on as it has been - a rundown at the beginning of each month to let players know what they might be in for, and more plot progressions as more islands resurface. Players and characters are free to engage with the plot as much or as little as they'd like!

Right now, we're looking at closing Reserves and Applications by the end of March 2020, at least as they pertain to new players. However, we intend to leave Applications open to any returning characters up until the game's closure. This way, people are free to return and carry out any closure for arcs for their character developments or for their CR.

Once again, we extend a genuine and unending thanks to everyone who has ever breathed this little game along. LifeAftr was never supposed to progress onward indefinitely, however, and we feel that its natural lifespan is coming to a close.

That being said, if you have any questions, you are free to ask below!

Thank you.

With love: Angel, Bird, Ruka, and Zero.
