He very much wants to go home, but he's the only one--all of his close CR would be screwed over by the Historian's plan, ha ha ha. So the best possible ending he can imagine is create a new world/stabilize the current one and let everyone choose to stay or go. He, of course, will be fine going home, it's his buddies he's worried about, but he also knows he can't handle staying forever for their sake :C
