Farming, plant relocation, and plotting.

Hey! A lot of us have floated around ideas for starting a farm or relocating the growing plants that have already been discovered, and it's more than time to get that idea off the ground!

A few locations have been suggested in the past (the old farming plots near the temple and on the islets themselves), and some characters might have already started some small personal farms. This is a plotting and information gathering post to find out what characters are doing, where they think farms should be started, and what they have or want to contribute. Keep in mind what areas took hits during the flooding.

I don't know all the available plants, but I'll look around and try to gather what I find in a shareable doc. Would it beneficial to everyone if I also made a tab for farms and for what people want to do?

Not much, but he does know about horses? They should be similar enough to Cariborn to work, since both are four-legged herbivore animals.

Offhand, do we know how many eggs they would be getting from the bludrocs?

That is a good question. I don't know if anyone has asked the mods specifically, but since they are suppose to be a lot like chickens, well taken care of chickens will generally lay one egg a day, every so often skipping a day. I would say after the first few days where they were getting them settled into the islets, the ladies are probably giving them 2-3 eggs a day. After a few days, I would think they would likely have extras to trade if that is what's on your mind!

I've been thinking of having Tataru ask for a Karakul or two for wool. If/when she does so, she'd be happy to trade helping out for field space, possibly?

Once they catch wind of it Chara would absolutely assist in tending to the patch- though they'd probably try and do it when he's not looking. We could potentially do something with that, if you're up for it <3

Chara would be happy to assist in both things! They'd be happy to use their packpack to try and transfer some plants to a safer location, as well as attempt to keep them alive with some trial and error (most of their plant knowledge is based on flowers/flowering plantation, but they do have some knowledge about vegetables).

If they know precisely what to look for, they'd also be happy to help arrange a proper crop of the plants she needs for textile production. She may need to assist them in learning to identify these plants, but once they know, they'd be happy to search them out. Additionally, if she describes a Karakul to them they'll attempt to request one after this month's storytelling.

Chara would be interested in trading medicinal plants for uh...clay and fertilizer. If she can help them identify some of the plants and veggies she's looking for, they'll do their best to transplant them!

Henlo Chara would be interested- if she likes, they'd happily trade some of their golden flower seeds and trimmings, since they want to spread those across all the islets anyway

SO CHARA IS a little tentative when it comes to bludrocs and if he uh...could share some tips on how to handle them so this poor child stops being afraid of fluffy birds that'd be swell.

They'd also be happy to take some of his seeds to plant out the back of their own cottage for Tim! If he's after any plants in particular, they'll be happy to find and trade them.

Hey you nerds so if a child were to, by chance, start supplying them with a pretty consistent source of clay... would they be interested in perhaps supplying them with some more gardening tools?

More specifically Chara's super keen on not along getting some buckets, shovels and rakes, but some actual plant pots or troughs they can pop out the front of their shack for anything delicate they're attempting to nurture.

On top of this they're pretty plant literate so they'd be happy to find veggies and herbs for them, and can easily be taught to identify any plants they aren't familiar with, too.

OMG, I was not expecting to be killed by cute coming from CHARA of all people and yet here I am. DED. LOL!

Iggy will be glad to help them out. He'll even offer to make some food afterward to lessen the 'traumatic' experience. ;-P

He will be happy to pass along some seeds as well. There isn't anything specific he is looking for really--food is food and they can't afford to be picky right now--though if Chara ever comes across something grain-like, he would LOVE a heads up. They have a serious lacking in that catagory currently. X.x

Absolutely! She's borrowed Mercy's book on medicinal flora so she should be able to accurately identify those (though I don't know what's native to these islands) and as for vegetables, honestly, she'll take anything, she is a mother has a teenager and several barely-older-than-teenage boys to force to eat greens

Hella, that should be super useful (and honestly it's one of those aspects we've been attempting not to be too strict on...though we should look into it a bit more). They can absolutely do her a veritable bouquet of delicious greens with which to torture her boys <3

HUSH THEY ARE V SPOOPY AND NOT AT ALL CUTE AND IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT the chickens are scary look at their beady little eyes.

They absolutely won't say no to good food after this ordeal, that's for sure. In the meantime though, they can totally help with the vegetables, and will absolutely keep an eye out for grains!
