Jokes generally are meant to lighten the mood, to bring laughter and release from stress. Ignis has his own repertoire of bad jokes and puns often used in such a manner, but he is well aware that they can also be used to distract and hide emotions a person is afraid to show. As much as he wishes Prompto's joke was the former use, he is quite certain it is the latter. He shifts slightly, releasing the blonde's hand so he can put his arm around Prompto's shoulders to pull him closer.

"Only you know the truth behind those words, Prompto. I won't make you say what you aren't ready to, but when you are ready, I'm here. It will take me some time to find my new normal, but that doesn't mean you need to suffer in silence. I may not be able to pick up on things as quickly as before, but rest assured, I'm here and I'm not going anywhere," Ignis bows his head slightly, smiling with he feels the brush of the blonde's spiky hair against his chin. "I'm feeling better and I should do an inventory to see what made it here with me, but why don't we sit here for a few minutes longer first?"
