A: Shipwrecked - now here's a kid whose whole world got all twisted
[He wakes up face down in the sand. It's always face down; the Skyways never see fit to land him right-side-up. He can hear a rhythmic, rushing sound from nearby, a little like the sound of wind, but not at all.]
[He sits up, shaking sand out of white hair, reaching up to wring seawater out of a red bandanna. He turns, and sees the ocean.]
[Rucks always said it was big, bigger than anything in the whole world. But he never thought it would be that endless, or that blue. Waves roll up and back out, tossing up seafoam, leaving tiny shells and hissing wet sand in their wake.]
[It's like nothing he's ever seen before.]
[And pretty as you like, sure. All that blue. Yeah, he could sit here all day, just staring at it. But he's never been one for sitting and waiting, and none of this feels right. The Boundless Sea was still a few days ride away, at least according to Rucks.]
[So the Kid gets up, dusts sand from his clothes, and does what he always does--he goes searching. Maybe there's someone here, some misplaced Ura; or maybe there's a Core to pick up. There's always something that needs doing.]
B: Cliffs - learned to build, learned to break
[He figures when he sees the water starting to creep its way up the beach that the beach won't be much for shelter. He's heard about this--tides and such, the water moving in and then back out, twice over the course of the day. With no way of knowing how high the tide will get here, the safest bet will have to be the cliffs. He could see a jungle up there. Plants maybe for eating and for providing shelter.]
[Climbing was a chore, but it's not like he's never had to climb treacherous surfaces before.]
[Now it's evening, and he's finishing the last touches on a lean-to made out of palm leaves and sticks. He's got a small pile of fruit he doesn't recognize, but he watched a few animals eating them earlier, so they must be safe. He can already see a few fires sparking to life along the beach and cliffs. There's people here, more than he first thought, and none of them look like Ura, or Caelondian for that matter.]
[Ain't that something?]
[Maybe he'll wander to some other campsites and offer some of this fruit he's found. Just gotta finish tying up these leaves first.]
