Happy Holidays! (2017)
Happy Holidays From the Mod Team!

... and the Storyteller
Hello, our dear player hearts! As 2017 draws to a close, we the mod team want to thank all of you from the bottoms of our hearts for all you've done to make LifeAftr a success thus far. All the ideas in the world amount to very little without a playerbase to engage with them, and you have all gone above and beyond what we could have hoped for. Consider this a personal love note from Bird, Angel, and Zero, and we wish you all a very Merry Christmas, Happy Holiday, or simply a lovely week and new year!
Now onto the good stuff.
The Storyteller, of course, is perfectly aware of the holiday traditions: one does not simply exist as a patron deity of stories without having a few classic Christmas tales under their proverbial belt. While LifeAftr's resident god may not quite understand the fascination with telling children stories about a large, bearded man breaking into every house on the planet in a single night, they do prefer to think of themself as more of a St. Nick than an Ebenezer Scrooge.
And it just so happens that due to the events of the recent Storytelling... well... they've got a bit of extra power to burn.
Thus, on the morning of the 26th, every character in the game will awaken to find two special gifts among their belongings that had not been present before. These two gifts are the same for each person, with only one slight discrepancy which will be detailed below. These gifts are:
[ ♆ ] A single jug of piping hot wassail -- perfect for sharing with a friend. If the alcohol content doesn't keep characters warm, then the fact that the delicious cider never seems to cool down certainly might. Curiously, a strange message can be glimpsed on the bottom of the glass: Need a refill? Share with a friend; or maybe carol! How curious. Indeed, characters who share their cider with others in holiday spirit or sing the jug a little tune will find that the next morning brings them a fully refilled jug.
For characters under the age of 18, this cider will be gloriously sweet yet also gloriously nonalcoholic. Characters of drinking age who prefer their cider without liquid courage, too, will find that their jugs are to their liking.
[ ♆ ] A teardrop-shaped pendant to be worn around the neck. This pendant is filled with blue-green water from the Storyteller's very own mana pool; what's more, the Storyteller themself seems to have applied a special bit of magic to it so that it glows a gentle blue in the dark. While this light is normally quite unobtrusive, it reacts directly to its surroundings: the darker the night, the brighter it will glow, up to the intensity of a lantern in total darkness.
These gifts will retain their functions until the end of January, after which point they will remain in characters' possessions, but as mundane, everyday objects. Favors may, of course, be spent to renew these benefits.
As for the Storyteller themself? They aren't much one for putting on a show. From the night of the 25th to the morning of the 26th, there will be nary a sighting of them -- except, perhaps, in one's dreams, a glimpse of a polar bear with antlers trundling along the beach, a jug in their maw and endless teardrop-strings of glowing blue around their neck.
As always, there’s a toplevel below for any questions, concerns or feedback! If you feel something could be done better, or you’d like to comment on something that’s working well for you, please feel free to utilize this. You can also contact the mods directly!

also: does the water in the pendant have the same recharging effect as a mana pool itself, or is it just a super cool glowy accessory?

The pendant will glow indefinitely, without need for recharging at the mana pool! The only exceptions will be if it breaks (as it is made of simple glass) or once the warranty runs out at the end of January, at which point it will stop glowing and appear become regular water.
Unfortunately, it does not contain the recharging properties of a full mana pool itself. Characters will still need to make trips to make their sigil charge.
