Shion finally nodded, his face grim but accepting of the other mans words. It was an awful thing. Though Shion knew the man would not get sucked under completely the reality was worse- at least drowning was a relatively quick death.
He looked around again. Nothing but sand in every direction. No hills or trees to make him believe there might be a place nearby where help could be sought.
Shion blinked sadly at the man and then sat down carefully, making sure the ground was solid. "I'm sorry." His voice was quiet, a string of anger that this had happened. "I won't leave you though..."
Sometimes when awful things happened the only thing you could offer was to stay. No one should die alone.
