TEST DRIVE MEME ( 007 )
Test Drive Meme #7
Hello, and welcome to LifeAftr! We’re pleased that you’re expressing an interest in the game. Here, you can test the waters, gauge how your character may fare in the world of LifeAftr, and even gain some in-game incentives, if you so choose.
Remember that Reserves will open on January 15th, and Applications on January 24th!
Two important notes:

Remember that Reserves will open on January 15th, and Applications on January 24th!
1. LifeAftr's test drives take place on the island of Mu, which exists apart from the real world and possesses a dream-like quality that characters are innately aware of from the moment they appear on its shores. No need to panic or fret. Dreams are odd things, after all - and anything can happen in them. Why would anyone question where their mind chooses to wander in its sleep?
2. Due to the nature of Mu, threads in our test drive can not only be accepted as thread samples in your application, but can be accepted as game canon as well. In fact, certain choices your character makes in Mu have the potential to bear in-game consequences, largely in the form of test drive reward items.

Ice of You to Drop By
The winter has well and truly settled in, both on LifeAftr and here in Mu; when you wake, you may discover that it isn't on dry land at all, but on a thick crust of ice. In fact, there doesn't seem to be any land in sight, in any direction - just ice, stretching on and on for as far as the eye can see.
Assuming the chill doesn't get to you first, you'll find that there are much more pressing matters than frostbite. One of those things will start cutting to the chase rather quickly in the form of a wickedly pointed fin, glinting beneath the weak winter sun, shearing through the mantle of ice like a hot knife through butter.

Much like real sharks, they can smell blood, and will set upon it eagerly. Unlike real sharks, they are also innately hostile. Anyone who looks like they might be an easy target will be quickly zeroed in upon by several ravenous, but nonetheless quite pretty, of these glittering creatures.
With Our Wassailing Bowl
The rest of Mu might be more forgiving in terms of setting, but that does not mean you're safe. Waking on dry land is generally considered preferable to waking on nothing more than a layer of ice, even if said dry land is nothing more than a jagged spurt of dark, coastal cliff. It's obvious from the start that nothing truly lives here. The island itself is simply some fragment of rock, eroded away from its mainland until it is all that remains.
The island itself isn't special, no. What is special is what is at its center.

Really, the only problem here is that everyone else wants it too.
The second you lay eyes on that treasure, you'll be seized with an instinctive, inescapable need to have it. No one else can be allowed to partake; it is yours by right. You saw it first, after all, didn't you? You'll have to race with your peers to seize it before anyone else does, and you might even have to start fighting dirty to claim your prize. Sure, you could fight that initial instinct, but where's the fun in that?
Dig a Little Deeper
It's not as though actual, real dry land is out of the question for Mu this go around. It's just that there aren't very many desirable options, evidently, when it comes to the manner of islands that resemble those in the proper archipelago. This island in question might be a bit cold, brisk as the winter air is, but it is otherwise quite ordinary. In fact, one would not be remiss in thinking it bears more than a passing resemblance to the island of Chol.
Unfortunately, it's also chosen to emulate a rather unpleasant, if rare, aspect of Chol's landscape: quicksand. No getting out of this one, we're afraid - Mu has dropped you right smack in the middle of a patch of it.
The myth that one can "drown" in quicksand is largely without much scientific bearing. Indeed, the most prominent danger is that one will start to sink and quickly become mired in the stuff, but eventually they'll cease to properly sink at all. No; the real peril lies in the fact that, once stuck, it is nearly impossible to get out of it. Most victims of quicksand risk death by dehydration or starvation, though we wouldn't fault you for fearing death by, er, sand. Who doesn't hate sand? It's coarse, it's rough, it's irritating, and it gets everywhere.

Eichi Tenshouin ♪ Ensemble Stars!
[Immediately, he's confused as to whether this is a dream or not. Standing in the middle of ice in only his normal school uniform, he's not equipped for the weather at all. By all means, he should be suffering a lot more than just some shivering, if he got out here— but if this was a dream, he wouldn't feel that chill at all, would he? His dreams are always pain free.
There's not enough time to consider any of this. Just as he takes a hesitant step forward, something catches the light and sparkles from above the ice some distance away. It's like glass, pointed and beautiful and coming straight his way. He stumbles back, watching the fin trace around him and fracture the ice, his arms stuck hugging himself and unable to do much more.
It looks like he's not the only one on this chunk of ice, though. He spots them now, after a turn of his head, following how the shark is beginning to trace around them. Stumbling a little with the jostling of the ice around them, he moves towards this stranger, forcing one of his ice cold hands out to reach for them as a means of support.]
It seems as though it wants to trap us. [This is his idea of a greeting, way too calm and stuck between pretending and hoping this is all just a dream, and keeping his composure up for pride's sake. Maybe this person is more capable at escaping ice sharks. Or maybe they'll both be stuck on ice, stumbling about to find a way free.]
Quicksand
[When it's Eichi's turn to lend a helping hand, he's just as calm about it, oddly enough. His feet take him cautiously closer, until he's sure that another step forward would bring him to sinking as well, and he bends forward, peering at the person before him.]
Is this what they call "quicksand?" I've never seen it in person before. Of course, I wasn't so ignorant as to think that this only existed in things like stories, but to see someone trapped in it just like out of a book... Fufu, it's a little funny, isn't it?
[Don't worry, though, his weird chuckling at their misfortune is followed by him extending his hand, stretching to try and reach them.]
I don't have much of a grip, you know, so please hold on tight.
Wildcard
[AND ANYWHERE ELSE or taking this scenarios and making them different!!]
Quicksand
Rather than taking his hand, she takes off her scarf and ties a knot at either end. "This should be a bit easier on both of us, I think," she says, handing him one end.

ice sharks
Ah, but this prince-like (angel-like?) person was wearing a high school uniform... Then perhaps a scene out of some fantastical shoujo manga, like the ones Kikuchi reads? All of the above? Must this moment only be categorized through modern media known by society? She had so many questions, none of which she felt was necessary to express outwardly.
Perhaps she should have listened when her butler cautioned against eating bullion cubes before going to bed.
Not quite grasping the reality of the entire situation yet and still considering this to be some sort of dream, she also reaches out towards the stranger to maintain each other's balance out of survivalist camaraderie, though her gazes stays focused down on the twinkling fin circling around them.]
... It is truly strange that beautiful things turn out to be quite harmful. Roses, jellyfish, laundry detergent capsules... and seemingly this unknown creature we find ourselves with.
[She continues staring blankly at it for another moment, her eyes narrowing slightly to get a better view of the creature tormenting them. Through the clear parts of the ice underneath them, she could make out the vague but familiar shape of a shark. This sight prompted her to also add:]
I do wonder, if made into sashimi, would it taste more of ice or fish...?
[Clearly, her priorities were in the right place.]

Meredith Baker - OC - Bliss Stage
This being a dream doesn't reassure Meredith in the slightest. If it were a dream of home, sure, but dreaming of the middle of an alien and icy landscape is no reassurance at all. She's supposed to be shaping dreams, damn it, not in one herself.
The cold is manageable; she isn't usually bothered by it and just curls her scarf (in dark blue and silver) around her tighter, bundling her hands in it's tails. Walking on ice is trickier, but she's got a cook's polymer-toed shoes from the inventory - she manages to get some traction.
It's the sight of the fin cresting through the ice that gives her pause. She gives it half a second before her assessment of the situation:
"Oh, for God's sake," she groans. And runs. For a rock, any landmark, any person, anything. It never occurs to her to use the pistol on her hip; just once, she'd like to fight a Nightmare that wasn't immune to small arms fire.
When she finds a person, she says between breaths: "Nightmare after me -" deep breath. "Draw a weapon -" Huff. "Or - help me slow it down!"
2 - Buck And A Quartermaster
Well, the fun in resisting that impulse is, first, that it will help to prevent a fistfight, and second -
"There is clearly more than enough here for everyone. Settle down, y'all." Still, she is moving towards the pot - channeling that impulsive greed towards becoming Acting Quartermaster. Again.
She was sick of petty resource squabbles before the apocalypse, and she's only gotten more sour over the idea since.
3 - Cool heads under water
Quicksand? Really? That's the worst this dreamscape can offer?
That's a simple matter of calmly and slowly undoing her scarf, tying strategic knots, throwing it over to solid land, and fluttering eyelashes at some passer-by.
"Pardon me, but I seem to be in a bit of trouble. Would you be kind enough to, ah, hold the other end of my rope so I can extricate myself from it?"
4 - Anchor was never so literal
Once that's done, she's going to be returning the favor, throwing her improvised rope to folks in trouble.
"Keep calm," she says, low, soft, reassuring. "And grab hold. You'll have to haul yourself out, I'll give you the leverage."
Ace of Aces
(This prompt for rent. Come up with whatever!)

Of course now there's a woman running towards him and... some kind of glass shark fin? Oh, you have to be kidding.
"I can do that," Zelgadis agreed. "Get clear."
Because fire magic seemed to be the obvious counter, and whether this thing was immune to fire or not, it was going to blast the ice shell open.

Guren Ichinose | Owari no Seraph
Move!!
[Guren calls out from a good distance away, running across the ice, ignoring the cracking of the surface and the way his feet would skid to focus on moving. There's a body of mangled ice and cold water behind him, indicating that he'd run into trouble of his own. But wherever that shark was now, it wasn't chasing him.
Ahead, though, the person he's yelling to seems to still have their problem before them. Guren's about to try something, and he'd rather not have this person in the same line of fire. But regardless of how they handle it, he makes his move, jumping and bringing his blade into the back of the ice shark just as it surfaces to try and take a bite. His black blade can be seen straight through it, his feet threatening to slip on the back of the animal as he fights to keep his grip, and then the beast and Guren sink under water.
It's probably fine.]
No one likes sand
[It's probably a funny sight, Guren in full uniform, his arms held above his head with a sword in one hand, sinking slowly into the sand. He knows enough to not struggle, but he's still well past his waist in sand and it's not getting any better.
The look on his face says he is not ready for anyone to joke around with him, though. He gives a flat, cold stare at anyone who dares to eyeball him for too long without offering help.]
What the hell are you doing? Throw me something! [Today would be nice??]
i lied, sand
[ Okay so he was just kind of staring, but nobody likes to be called out. (All he could think was that the guy took out his sword to cut himself out of quicksand, and it was distractingly bizarre. Would that even work? It wouldn't work, right? —Oh, he's still staring.)
There isn't really anything around, either. He turns in a useless circle, in case he missed something (a rope...tree), but nope. ]
Where's the edge of it?
[ It's okay buddy he's got this, probably, maybe. He steps closer, frowning. That's just water rising over the soles of his boots, isn't it? ]

Jules Dagger Samari - The League
Of course something was trying to kill him. The novelty of that had long since faded away. It would have been nice to escape that in his dreams (at least he was pretty sure this was a dream), but that was probably asking for too much. Jullien was on everyone's hit list. He'd been dealing with that fact since he was five, and only more often in his adult life. Some monster made out of ice? The thing could take a number and get it's ass kicked just like everyone else.
Any normal person might start getting nervous as more and more fins starts to appear. Jules wasn't a normal person - hell he wasn't technically a person at all, but that was beside the point. All the circling sharks did to him was piss him off. Majorly.
"I've seriously sunk to a new low when even overgrown fish are trying to kill me."
He wasn't going to wait around for them to whittle down his room until they could drag him into the water either. Nobody could mistake Jullien for passive. He narrowed his eyes on the biggest shark. Taking that one out would make a point and could potentially chase the other ones away without him needing to do anything else. While he had a wonderful weapon against these things, his fire would also melt away the ice he was standing on. He'd prefer to avoid a swim if possible. Still, it would be more than worth the risk...
Quicksand
"Minsid hell!"
How had he even gotten himself into this situation? He was smart enough to identify quicksand long before he wound up in it. Given being stuck in one place made him a sitting duck for everyone after him, staying vigilant was important. Jullien was good at it too. Very good. So how the hell had he gotten here? He didn't remember, which was terrifying all by himself.
Now he somehow had to figure out how to get out. It wasn't like anybody was going to be helping him. Nobody would even help him by shooting him to save him from a slow death. They would simply revel in that slow death and do everything they could to torture him worse. That was pretty much how life went for him. There was no way Jullien was going to let that happen though. Nothing had killed him yet, and he definitely wasn't about to let a freaking patch of quicksand take that win. No frigging way.

Ice Sharks
His daggers appear in his hands with a scattering of blue crystal, electricity sparking to life around them only a moment after. The sharks' circling paths make it harder for him to pick a target that won't cause him to run into their victim when the magic pulls him to it, but at least the victim's muttered words allow Ignis to place roughly where he is in the circle so he can pick a shark moving away from him.
As for the statement, it's something he can find out more about when they are no longer on such thin ice.
Target selected, Ignis locks his focus on it and allows the power of his blades' Stormbinding to draw him to it. The shark's fin shatters with a satisfying crack. Even before the shards have hit the ice, he's moving toward his next target.
"The shore's back the way I came! Head that way!"

Kelly-087 | Halo (novels)
[Huh, well, at least her dreams were kind enough to make sure her armor was still in shape. Even if being alone on a thin thing of ice was... not ideal when said armor was more than enough to break ice on its own and she's already instinctively trying to move to get to somewhere more stable. Her speed is impressive for anyone that might be able to see it, moving quicker than a human should, after all. Though as she's looking back she's noticing that fin, a slow panic starting to boil as somehow this creature is catching up on her which shouldn't be remotely possible.]
You have got to be kidding me. [She's hissing before noticing the harsh ground that is absolutely not the ice, a grin crossing her lips underneath her help before she's lunging that last gap to land with a loud noise just inches from the ice. Which, uh, doesn't seem to deter the shark given it's reaching out of the water to try and grab her only to get kicked by a armor foot and Kelly's scrambling out of the reach.]
First time I've kicked a shark, I guess...
Let's fight/wildcard
[Just because she's stuck in this place doesn't mean she can get complacent and she's just huffing softly to herself as she's wriggling out of her armor for the time being, not seeming to mind the cold right now. She's at least in a skin tight suit underneath all that armor which is at least providing some insulation. But the lithe maybe 5'8" or so teenage girl is not the most intimidating thing in the world, after all.
Except that if someone was dumb enough to try to pick up any part of the armor it weighs, oh, a few tons by itself. How she wears that and doesn't get squished is anyone's guess. But for now she's found herself a nice rock to perch on, focused on nothing in particular.
Just ignore the sign she's somehow managed to make in the dream land that very clearly says "fight me" and nothing else.
Dammit, Kelly.]
Sharks?

Yukari Kotozume ✧ Kirakira Precure a la Mode
[It's a rather chilly place to wake up and she's not fond of it. But the dreamlike feeling hits Yukari quickly, of course, so she doesn't question it. She may not have questioned it regardless, of course.
Even as she spots the icy fin dashing through the ice, she seems unconcerned. She takes a few steps forwards, somehow managing to step very lightly.]
You know... I think I would prefer a shaved ice shark.
ii. a sinking feeling
[Well now, this is a problem. How did she miss this quicksand? She was worried for a moment, but it seems quicksand's reputation is greatly exaggerated. The sinking had been worrying, now it's simply inconvenient. And probably not good for her clothes.
Hm. Yes. And nothing to help her get out. At least, so it seems until she realizes there's someone nearby. When she addresses them, though, she doesn't seem to be all that worried about her predicament.]
Isn't this interesting? [...Actually, she sounds slightly amused.] I never thought I'd get stuck in actual quicksand! This place is simply full of surprises.
iii. a helping hand?
[Did you happen to get yourself caught in quicksand? Not the best situation to be in, is it... And especially without anything in reach. Nothing that can help you get out.
Well. Not anything, at least. As it so happens, this young lady just happens to be wandering by. Yukari's timing really is perfect. Talk about a lucky break, huh?]
Oh? Oh my. [Yukari walks over to the poor soul stuck in the quicksand, stopping a little way away from the edge and... crouching down, putting a hand under her chin as she observes.] Are you completely stuck in there? Such an unfortunate situation...
[........She's not actually reaching for you. She's just kind of... watching.]
iv. wildcard

i. what is danger
Such a delightful idea. How wonderfully melodious it would be if it were accompanied by the classic red beans and condensed milk as a topping? Although, perhaps the more colorful variations one sees among the certain islands dotting the Pacific would perfectly complement this untouched scenery of pure white... The single point of paint that would brighten this bare canvas of potential...
[Ah, wait a moment. She brings a gloved hand to her chin thoughtfully, a sudden Serious(TM) expression on her face.]
However, would the ice taste of shark meat? Perhaps I should reconsider the options in anticipation of an equally frigid, yet savory dish...

[It was colder than Briggs out here and almost as slippery. Riza had to be careful of what she was doing or she would end up on her backside and that was the last thing that she wanted to do. Breaking a bone because of a slip when she was all alone. She needed to get off of the ice and back to real land.
She also needed to be able to feel her fingers or she wouldn't be able to properly defend herself. Numb fingers made for poor handling of firearms and she needed to be able to defend herself against whatever was starting to circle. Frostbite was a serious danger as well and she couldn't bare to lose any of her fingers.
She continued on, doing her best to protect her hands from the cold as she made her way ]

[Well, this wasn't good at all. Riza did what she could to keep as still as she could while looking around for something to pull herself out with. There just wasn't anything within easy reach that she could use to pull herself out. She sighed as she tried to think about how she could get herself out of this situation.]
Hello?! Can anyone hear me?

Hello? Is anyone out there?

Shion: No. 6
It was cold. Shion hugged his coat around him and began to think. This wasn't a normal dream, sensation was not this sharp in a normal dream, he should not feel cold like this. Something more than a dream then? It did not surprise him, they did not know how long the process of restoring their worlds would take, that something like this would happen was not outside of the realms of possibility. This was not the void, not the one Shion knew anyways. But the feeling of being somewhere not real and yet sort of real all at the same time was almost familiar.
He began to move, slowly and carefully. One foot, testing the ice, moving his weight. Second foot. Moving would warm him up.
He did not get very far because soon something caught his eye. Ice more pointed than the rest, crystal clear. Moving towards him. Another. They were moving fast.
Shion had no weapon, his eyes widened as he took in the incoming ice. He spotted a third some distance away but moving as quick as the others. Fear flooded him. He skittered backwards no longer cautious of the ice. Ice cracking was the least of his worries right now.
Creatures, coming towards him. Danger. He ran. Ice fins approaching, circling. His eyes darted round, looking for the best route before he got trapped. Forcing himself to keep thinking. To not panic. To find a way out.
Nothing about this dream had surprised him and the fact that it was turning into a nightmare was the least surprising of all. All of Shion's dreams were nightmares.
ARE YOU READY I'M READY
Admittedly? She's not the most comfortable, dream or not, being dumped out on the ice. The slipping and sliding... she'd never really gotten used to this? Both in the Tower and otherwise, like when there'd been those ice cube Heartless back at Beast's Castle. It doesn't feel solid, it doesn't feel safe. But like Shion, she can't say the unpleasant start to this dream is a surprise.
There was... something else though. An underlying sense of urgency. A need to get somewhere that wasn't here. Why? Well, when she glanced around long enough, spotted a figure in the distance, running... that gave her some idea. She ran - skittered really - across the ice, trying her best to keep her balance. Trying her best not to crack it.
And then she saw him, got close enough to see the white of his hair and the scars. A silhouette she knew almost as well as she knew her name. And now ice cracking and slipping steps became the least of her worries.
"Shion!" Oh Light was it him? Was it really him?
... even if it wasn't, it didn't matter. Even if it wasn't her brother, it was a Shion, and she knew in her heart she couldn't leave him.

too cold, too cold, too fucking cold, oh good gods it's way too cold out here
[Thus mutters Izzy, repeating herself, teeth chattering against each other incessantly, arms huddled around her cloth tunic, trying to retain some manner of warmth. For as humanoid as she is, she's still cold-blooded, which means that staying out of the heat for too long could very well be deadly for her.
Not to mention the ice sharks. She hasn't even noticed the ice sharks yet, rolling through broken floes around her, almost circling to close off the area around her. Her only thought is to try and get to drier land and set up some kind of fire before she freezes up out here.] too fuckin' cold, too cold, worst fucking day not to be red, bet i'd be able to handle this better then huh.
[2. Quicksand]
[Here, now, Izzy is stuck waist deep in the sand, looking really unamused. Browridge furrowed, arms crossed, huffing angrily at nothing in particular.]
Yeah, mother nature! This is hilarious! Fucking... incredible. Can't even-- rrgh! [She tries to push herself up out of the bubbling, liquid sand and fails, ending up dropping another inch or so into the ground.] You'd think being tiny would give me an advantage but nooooooooo, physics just has to go and screw me over. Great!
[She's ranting loud enough that her voice echoes across the landscape, hopefully alerting some altruistic passerby to help fish her out before she ends up slipping further in...]
[3. Wildcard]
[Got any better ideas? Feel free to throw them at me!]

Then it disappears back into the foliage - but it swiftly returns with a rough coil of rope, one end of which is deftly tied around a nearby tree.
The knight judges the distance as best they can, and then concludes that they need something to weight the rope a little. As strong as they are, there's only so much they can do about tossing ropes.
A rock is scouted out, procured, and tied to the other end. The knight spins it, somewhat inexpertly, and throws.
Izzy will experience the perhaps slightly terrifying sensation of a rock whizzing way too quickly past and almost hitting her in the face, but hey, there's a rope to grab onto now. And the little bug is hanging onto the part of the rope on solid ground, ready to pull. ]

Seto | Fragile Dreams | OTA
[So here's a joke. A post-Apocalypse boy wakes up on an ice field...
Except it's not really a joke but the exact predicament Seto finds himself in when he comes to. At first he thinks it's a dream but it's far, far too cold for it. And he feels pretty awake too. Luckily in the case of the cold, he has a sort of jacket on but...
But something cuts through the ice and an impressive speed and it doesn't look friendly at all. Seto's experiences were with weird ghosts but it's pretty obvious something bad was going to happen if it caught him.
The math was easy to do. All Seto had was a metal pipe to defend himself with. It was probably best to get out of here but...where? There an island and--
And someone else. Seto can't clearly see who exactly it is, but there's another person with him on the ice. Luckily shock over seeing another person is overridden by the fact that a ghost(?) was attacking. So it's simple.]
You've got to run!
B - Sand traps are clearly the most fun.
[With his feet back on the non-icy ground, Seto sets about wandering around. There really is a huge difference between an island in the middle of winter and a post-apocalyptic Tokyo, you know. It's pretty overwhelming, especially since it's clear there's people on this island. Almost so overwhelming Seto nearly misses someone calling for help.
Immediately he follows the voice until he comes across someone stuck in quicksand. Seto has not seen it before, but it's not going to stop him from sticking a hand out towards them.]
Here, grab on!
a
The ice is horrible, she hates it. The random splits she sees out of the corner of her eye, she hates that too. In fact, all of this is horrible. She hates every second of it and her slow steps on the ice only exacerbate her feelings on the matter. Her Big Plan is to inch along, avoiding whatever creature is lurking under the ice as best she can and try to be brave. If only because she can't stay here-she needs to get away.
That's the plan.
That's the plan until she hears a voice that shatters the tentative grasp she has on the whole situation and her head whips around to find the source and-
Happiness courses through her entire body. She knew it. She knew he was here. She knew he was on another island, protected by another god, having dreams of his own of places that he couldn't even imagine. There was never a doubt in her mind their paths would cross, whether it would be in a dream or reality. Because he was here. He was always here.]
Seto!
[She manages to choke out through the lump forming in her throat. She can't cry. This isn't the time. She has to push it all back down and get him out of here. She has to wake up-wake up and find him. There's so much she wants to say and do, but-]
You can't run on this stuff. You have to-you have to be careful.

Atsuko "Akko" Kagari | Little Witch Academia
[Akko stirs at the sound of ice cracking around her. A fierce chill runs through her body - she is most definitely not dressed for this. Sleepily she reaches out for her blanket, hands grasping at nothing until -]
[Until her hand dips into the frigid water.]
GAH
[Atsuko Kagari has never sat bolt upright quite so fast in her life.]
[Her surroundings are unfamiliar. Ice as far as the eye could see in one direction and an uninviting rocky island shore in the other. And there's something with her, she can hear it in the water, breaking against the fragile ice. The fin of the shark is barely visible, but it's there, moving and distorting the air with a ghostly rippling effect. It's all too clear what it's trying to do: it's trying to strand her on a circle of ice. She scrambles to her feet, reaching for her wand.]
Think, think...there's got to be some spell for this...Sosomme Tiextrilla!
[All around Akko, the ice glows blue and white. It rumbles and begins to move on its own, the crack in the ice repairing itself just as quickly as the shark breaks it. It provides her a precious opportunity to make a run for the island not too far off. No longer separated from the rest of the ice sheets, she starts forward at a full sprint.]
[And slips.]
[Lying face down on the ice, wand tossed away from her, shark barrelling down from behind...Don't suppose you're a hero, are you?]

He sets her down and turns to face the creature.]
Are you coming with me to get your stuff or staying here?
[He's met, strange people. Some of them just charge right back in and who is he to tell them no.]

Shinobu Sengoku | Enstars | Quicksand!
Unfortunate for Shinobu, 'sticking' the landing worked a little too well. Feet hit the sand a little too hard, a little too deep, pressure snatching away his shoe and refusing to let go. He loses his chance at balance. Though agile in build and quick to react, it is nothing in the face of sand now slowly swallowing the boy's lower half. It was up to his knees now, he's stuck, heart racing like a thousand shurikens being thrown against his chest at once.]
Ahh... Ahhhhh....
[Don't panic, don't panic, don't panic how can he NOT panic!? Natural tendency to act before he thinks overrides any initial clear thought and he squirms, to the right, the left, trying to escape. To no avail.
As a matter of fact, any further attempts to escape only sink him deeper until nearly half his body disappears into the sand. As if he didn't curse his small stature enough, now it was betraying him even more!]
Augh... Th-This is bad...
[Tap into those honed ninja skills, Shinobu! Lone wolf warriors always could find a method of escape, or else they would be long dead before they started!]
..............
[Ah! Footsteps! Someone's nearby!? Well, sometimes even wolves travel in packs---]
O-Oh! Is someone out there...!? Hello! I think... Well, t-to say the least, I have found myself in a bit of a compromising position...! U~Ummm...
Ice to meet you... Not!
Judar struggles to push himself to his knees, and then once more to his feet. He's completely drained of energy from his previous fight, which means his magic will be difficult to make use of. Shit. He bites his lip. He doesn't want to linger on the past, not when recent events are still so fucking sore. He needs to focus, maintain a level head, and find a place of shelter. With what little strength he maintains, Judar knows he'll only be able to use ice magic, which while good in combat against humans, is practically useless in surviving an icy climate such as this.
He's not given much time to contemplate his options, however, as a crack in the ice breaks his silence. Eyes wide, Judar looks up just in time to see an aquatic ice creature leap into the air and disappear back into the hole it had broken. Oh. What the hell?
Without further thinking, he bolts, running across the ice with practiced ease, albeit not very quickly. He'd never been a very fast runner...
He nearly crashes straight into the stranger whilst looking over his shoulder, and instead skids to halt, loses his grace, and falls forward, face smacking hard onto the ice. It's definitely going to leave at least a bruise, if not worse, and he glares up at his new companion. "Thanks for standing in my fuckin' way," he sneers. "My face is ruined now, on top of this bullshit cold-"
Grumbling nonsense to himself, he once more stands, placing his hands on his hips and cocking his head to the side. "Never seen anyone dressed like you before..." A crackle in the distance makes him tense, and he continues, "You know what, never fucking mind. There's something out there, never seen anythin' like it before... Don't have magic to fuck it up right now. So-!" He claps his hands together and gives the stranger a cruel smirk. "Either run for your miserable life or be a meat shield. Preferably the latter!"

"... My most sincerest of apologies," she replied as she gave a solemn and brief bow. Though she wasn't sure what else she could say aside from that, she really did mean every word of it. "The injury does not seem that grievous, however."
Goodness, this young man loved to talk a lot. So much that it almost distracted Takane from the final thing that made her reluctant to doubt this was a dream: The glistening fin that belong to a large creature swimming below and threatening to engulf them at a moment’s notice.
“That is a shark made of ice,” Takane advised oh-so-helpfully. “I’m afraid I’d be a rather ineffective shield, good sir, and being eaten is a rather undesirable outcome for me... So I suppose I shall run, then.”
Or at least, attempt to. Ice was never the best surface for sprinting, but she’ll do her best. Yes, Takane was pretty much ditching him in her most earnest and sincere effort to follow his directions.
Keep up or eat up, little buster.
