Network Update: Stones of Far Speech
NETWORK: STONES OF FAR SPEECH

New Character: Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson
As many of you have seen, our resident firestarter Lup popped up an IC and OOC post regarding raising the stories needed to update our network earlier this month. A very quick response ensured that the requirements for this update (thirty stories initially, and a few volunteers for stories in future, in case more are required for new characters) were met in under twenty-four hours. Congratulations, adventurers, on your newly acquired Stones of Farspeech!
Forewarning of this update will come from the Storyteller, who will inform everyone via dream as to the functions and limitations of the Stones. Upon waking from this dream, each character will find a new stone on their person, unless they are one of the group who initially tested the stones in game. Whilst some of you may be aware of how Stones of Far Speech work in a D&D setting, a few tweaks have been made for ease of translating them into an RP setting:
[ ♆ ] Stones of Farspeech allow for audio communication over long distances - regardless of where your characters are in the world, they will be capable of communicating with each other, so long as there is no purposeful, magical interference. Keep in mind that Stones will not work on Mu.The information above has been added to our FAQ. Additionally, a small template has been added to the top of the network comm to remind you to note the manner of communication and the date this communication is occuring on.
[ ♆ ] For characters who are mute and/or deaf, their own Stone will work slightly differently than others. Consciously thinking of who they wish to speak to and what they would like to say will send their message in a nondescript voice, whilst deaf characters will find their Stone translating messages it receives into Braille. Note that this is a feature of Stones for characters who have a physical requirement for it, not a replacement for texting.
[ ♆ ] Speaking of text, it should be noted that Stones of Far Speech do not have a text or video option. Communication is audio-only. Additionally, there are no inboxes or messagebanks. If a character you are seeking to speak to doesn't pick up, too bad. If you intend to leave a message for anyone to respond to over a long period of time, the noticeboard by the Storyteller’s temple is still the best option.
[ ♆ ] Currently, the Stones of Farspeech have two features. Characters can choose to speak with one person only, or make an announcement to everyone at once- though responses will be on an individual basis. There is no option to speak to two or more Far Stones, and individual conversations are concretely private unless your character is within earshot of someone using their Stone.
Lastly, keep in mind that the network is always open for improvement! If there’s a feature your character would be keen on, or you personally like the sound of, don’t hesitate to bring it up with us to see if the addition of this function can be arranged...for a price, of course.
