OOC INTRO: SEPTEMBER

State of the Game
Welcome, newcomers, and hello again to the oldcomers! August was a dark time for us all - our character death tally hit new records with the latest event - but that doesn't mean you can't turn this around! You all clearly have a great deal that's been repressed and hidden. Doesn't it feel so much better to have that all out in the open?

...well, we thought so.

We've loved the feedback we've gotten about the game thus far, positive and negative, and encourage you to contact us whenever you feel it is necessary!

Our intro log will be going up on the comms on September 4th. Until then, a few quick points:

1. Umui. The island of Umui is still present in the archipelago, and has shown no sign of departing anytime soon. There are still some pockets of exploration to be had, and certain characters don't seem to want to say goodbye to ARUM-25 just yet. You might also be interested in looking over the information players have helped consolidate in regards to what is this island's...deal, exactly.

1. Deaths. Remember that, in the event of your character's death, to let us know so we can account for it. Don't forget to request the removal of your death penalty!

3. New Island. On September 10th, the fourth island the Storyteller promised will be making its debut! This one, if you recall, is laden with a great deal of animals, though the risks and dangers of this new land are not yet known. You can expect more information on what the latest island will entail soon!

In the meantime, feel free to use this post as an OOC intro and CR meme for the month of August - for new players to introduce themselves, for old players to meet and greet, and for general plotting to occur! If you want to chat or keep up with game updates, we also have both a plurk and a discord channel!

Tell us about them: Lucas is a nerdy scientist/inventor who once tried to resurrect his late mother by putting her soul in a robot body, and almost crystallized the entire planet as a result! He's still trying to make amends for that whole Thing. He specializes in mixing sciencey bullshit with magic, interplanar research, robots, and, uh... elevators, like the giant, horrible, man-eating elevator that showed up here in July. Sorry about that, folks. He's kind of a weasel, but mostly Lucas is just Very Tired, and would like to go home to his crystallized lab now, please.
Current plans: He's still getting over last month's flower hell! He spilled his guts to anyone who would listen to him, so more people are aware of his deal than before. Otherwise, he's trying to figure out how to 'do good' in a place without any technology or tools, and trying like hell to avoid the many people who either want to punch him, or dunk him in the ocean.

Tell us about them: CT is an Airlocked! CRAU, so she's post-death twice (once in canon, once in-game). Post-Airlocked, she spent some time in Thedas with her fiance Varric (from Dragon Age) and she still misses him a lot. She's currently enjoying (?) some reunions with her former teammates and generally trying to make a life for herself here as best she can. She did survive the flower plague!! but man it was close there for a while.
Current plans: As always, I adore both positive and negative CR, but CT can always use more friends and people coaxing her out of her shell! She'll probably be moving pretty soon, along with Wash, Carolina, and Zelda, so setting up house somewhere new will be a thing. Also someone please teach her to cook something other than fire-roasted bludroc dear god.

Tell us about yourself: I live in an EST time zone but I have a complicated relationship with sleep so my actual schedule is Mystery Flavour! An exciting fact about me is that I was legally dead for about four months earlier this year. I got better.

Tell us about them: Ah, yes. Kaworu Nagisa. The original white-haired tragic anime boy, gay icon for two decades... right? Well, not quite. This is not the omnipotent and aethereal Kaworu Nagisa of your anime experience. This is manga Kaworu, who is omnipotent (less so now, thanks to the Storyteller), cryptic (often unintentionally), and strangely inhuman. He's also prone to being an absolute 100% brat. He doesn't know how gendered bathrooms work, he doesn't know what personal space is, he doesn't know what human feelings are like at all. He thinks you're fascinating but you're all totally inane. At some point in his canon's future, he catches the emotions cooties from Rei, but.... right now? He's like three months of life experience and no consideration for others. Sorry, everyone.
Current plans: Kaworu just experienced DEATH for the first time and instead of being traumatised, he's getting a huge sulk on and will tell anyone who'll listen that as far as he's concerned, death here ain't shit. He's also now blind and finds it too inconvenient to bother with, so he's literally sitting down and refusing to go anywhere.

Tell us about them:

Edward is a grumpy and depressed young man from fantasy Nazi Germany who was then thrown into actual pre-Nazi Germany, who was then dumped into ryslig and became a cannibal monster man. He is about as traumatized as you might expect, but hides it all behind alcoholism and caring too hard about people (which went down the shitter a bit since he just narrowly avoided dying by yelling at his CRAU buddy Ginko about all of his shit). He's actually fairly good-natured and does what he can to help out, but he can be pretty impatient about certain things.

Chip is a part-demon little kid that kind of really hates themself and is paranoid of pretty much anything and everyone. They are skittish and prone to lash out at anyone they don't regard as a figure of authority (see: pretty much Any Adult Ever), but can also be very sweet and caring if you don't spook them. They've had to recently come to grips witht he fact that a lot of things they've been dealing with are Not Okay, but they still have a long ways to go.

Rei is from that one crazy anime that no one knows what the fuck is going on but she's on a lot of merch so it must be good, I guess. She's quiet, reserved, and has no patience for literally any of your shit. Having just died(?) and been ejected out of a fucked up conspiracy that ruled her entire life, she has no idea what the hell to do with herself and is just a tad overwhelmed about all this freedom she suddenly has.

Current plans:

Edward is kind of a big question mark for me at the moment--I haven't been super active with him and I'd like to get him out there more, so I'd love to rekindle older CR and build new CR! Seriously, just hit me up and we can hash out whatever you'd like. He's also attempting to maintain a small plot of communal farmland near the Storyteller's temple that I really need to get around to finalizing, so if anyone wants to have been retroactively helping/join the crew there, let me know!

Chip is in serious need of some friendships that they don't feel like the inferior party in. They have a ton of supportive adults in their life, but some friends in their age bracket would be delightful. They're also kind of panicking in the aftermath of hanahaki bullshit and maybe need to be reassured that it's okay to hate what happened to them? Seriously can someone app a goddamn therapist to this island?

Rei needs friends!! Or enemies!! Or anything really please give her meaning in her existence she doesn't know how to handle this oh god. Honestly I'm open for anything with her, just getting established and figuring herself out after canon events.
