New Island: Nuidan

NEW ISLAND: NUIDAN

With the final island of the initial selection made available on our Locations page, it is time, at long last, for islanders to visit the promise of animals. The Storyteller will be happy to advise on the night prior that the new island will be ready for exploration via the mana pools on September 10th.

Transportation
The Storyteller can assure both the presence of a mana pool for the purposes of travel and the lack of any apparent civilization, though they will also be quick to confirm they have had a much easier time gaining contact with this island's avatar. Despite their relative activity on the physical plane, rest assured that there will be no repeats of any...issues here.

The mana pool is present on the E5 square, should the characters choose to arrive via that method. In addition, characters are free to sail there on their own, if they so choose.

The Storyteller is, as always, certain to impart the name of this new land via dream.

Into the Orchard I Walk
A unique island in every sense, adventurers will find one of Nuidan's most distinctive features to be the manifestation of multiple seasons. Not content to comply with its tropic location, Nuidan's four corners go by weather patterns all of their own, leaving a distinct imprint of spring, summer, autumn, and winter permanently fixed upon its shores. These shifts aren't simply for show, however. No matter where you venture, evidence of someone making the best of the changing seasons can be found in fenced off paddocks filled with livestock, large silos standing alongside fields of wheat and grains, rice paddies, greenhouses - even a smattering of mills and barns situated amongst the farmlands.

It's all just asking to be harvested and utilized! Though...maybe not solely by you. Much of these lands show signs of having seen better days, but there are still multiple indications that someone has been patiently working through what's necessary to benefit from the land's many bounties.

They can't wait to meet you.

Peering Way Past the Gate
The avatar of Nuidan is known by many names: Oko, Churnpeg, Demetus, Jarilo. But, really, they'd much prefer you call them Harv. Harv will be almost constantly present at the temple, most often sticking with their most preferred form - that of a simple sheepdog. Amiable (if not a little busy), they're aware from talking to everyone's favorite rabbit that your living situation is not...ideal, to say the least. As the avatar of harvest, it is always time to work, and some willing assistance is always greatly desired… with plenty of rewards, of course.

Harv, unlike the Storyteller, is very much keen to do some physical labor, more than happy to assist with a few upgrades to the islets - particularly things that will allow characters an easier time in growing crops and keeping animals. Extremely generous to those who work hard, Harv has little patience for those who procrastinate and laze about. They will be quick to point adventurers to the signpost of what requires doing - and what rewards they may offer for successful accomplishments. Whilst Harv doesn't require much assistance to sustain themself, efforts outside of Nuidan do need the extra boost of some helping hands. Characters will have the opportunity to facilitate some much-needed home improvements to life by exploring Nuidan and harvesting its many bounties as offerings, on top of some much more specific requests.

These requests, known as Tasks, come in both active and passive flavors. An additional post will be made at the island's arrival detailing both styles, the tasks available to you, and a form for claiming a task for yourself! Nuidan will be available for the following two months at least, which will allow the game's focus to take a small break from the plot and center in on survival and slice-of-life. There will, however, be a new event available for you next month, so try not to relax too much.

QUESTIONS AND CONCERNS

Since specific details of locations are going to be coming slowly, I thought I would ask this as a general question just for posting purposes. Is it feasible to assume there would be natural bee hives somewhere on Nuidan? If not, I'll try to come up with another general idea for an open post.

It is very likely that there are a few wild beehives that have cropped up about the place; keep in mind that interacting with wild hives would not count towards filling the task of harvesting honey, as it is specifically for harvesting from the less naturally built bee houses.
