Player: Nick Character/Username: Lance, thegoofball Prior to coming to LifeAftr, what is an aspect of your character that they struggled with - be it a shortcoming, a fear, a bad habit, or eccentricity? Lance is marked by insecurity - a tendency to view others as better than him and seeing himself as lesser than everyone else he knows. There’s also a tendency to pit himself to be better than other people because of this insecurity.
What do they struggle with now? Is it the same as the above? Guilt is a huge part of him right now - he blames himself for several things, including disappearing from the island and Shiro’s death.
What personal demons, specifically, haunt your character from canon or from past game experiences? Lance is haunted by his failures and shortcomings - he failed Shiro, nearly failed his sister and his team, and failed everyone on the island by leaving them again when they needed him. He holds onto these things despite them, and he blames himself for not being good enough. Also, he’s been in an active war for over a year and has seen some shit.
What is the type of person your character hopes to become? He wants to be someone other people can be proud of - he states that he’s motivated to become a “better person”, but it’s unclear what that means. He wants to be strong and capable and dependable and have people rely on them. Basically, he wants to be a hero.
What is the type of person you hope your character will become? Someone who’s confident and proud of himself, who spends less time focusing on his shortcomings or exaggerating his good parts. Someone who’s honest, above all else. And also like, happy.
Do any of the Seven Deadly Sins or Virtues stand out as applicable to your character? Why? Pride - Lance is incredibly vain and self-centered at moments, and he can be downright rude and antagonistic because of his pride. He’s competitive and driven and snippy because he compares himself to others and wants to be better than them.
For a virtue, it would probably be Kindness. For all of his vanity and ego, he cares deeply about people and wants to do whatever he can to help them. He wants to help people from the bottom of his heart and be friends with everyone he can manage. He's a good boy, Brent.
