Prior to coming to LifeAftr, what is an aspect of your character that they struggled with - be it a shortcoming, a fear, a bad habit, or eccentricity? HOO BOY. Well he was deeply paranoid, prone to deception, coldly condescending, and predisposed to keep people at an arm's length, and some of that is still there. One of the most notable aspects of Tim that continues to follow him is that he's a liar, both to himself and to others. He throws up a million barriers, frequently undercuts and dehumanizes himself, and shrinks away from divulging too much of his history. The only people he really talks freely about that shit with are the people who've literally seen his soul and related parties, and even then he doesn't really talk about it. He doesn't want to acknowledge himself as someone who's worthy of compassion or even permanence, because his own self-loathing is also such a huge barrier. Self-blame is another massive thing for him; he defaults toward anger and trying to push blame on others as a knee-jerk reaction, but inevitably will find a way to blame himself for essentially anything. This inevitably prompts a downward spiral of self-pity, which he's learned to grow out of a little? Or at least he keeps it where no one can see it lol.

What do they struggle with now? Is it the same as the above? His history and refusal to disclose it is one of the biggest barriers right now. He's managed to get close to people, but the only times he actually addresses his history (as a kid who grew up alone in a hospital, as someone who was the Operator's pawn, etc.) is when he literally has no other choice and people are kind of forced to see it for themselves in events and memory shares and the like. Using that as proof that he's inherently dangerous and should be avoided is usually the subsequent instinct - avoid, avoid, avoid, and if he has to act exceptionally cruel to make that happen, he will. So deception, particularly self-deception, is a big one. It's notable that he doesn't really have an accurate picture of himself; he embraces all the negative shit and completely ignores the positive.

What personal demons, specifically, haunt your character from canon or from past game experiences? THE OPERATOR, OBVS. That's the biggest one. He also hasn't really confronted how he feels about the people he left behind - Jay, Alex, Brian, etc. A lingering fear of Sans Undertale from Sol Raveh. The masked man's influence on Tim's life as well; he super doesn't acknowledge them at all if he can help it, and this is an unhealthy level of repression.

What is the type of person your character hopes to become? This is a small point of internal conflict for him. On one hand, he'd rather he didn't really have to exist? On the other, there are too many people he wants to be better for (Chara, Ren, Chip, Frisk, basically every scrap of positive CR he's made since coming here) and for the first time in his life it...it doesn't feel attainable, per se, but he wants to be better. But he also assumes this is motivated by guilt and obligation instead of genuine affection (spoilers it's mostly the latter) so that's something he's gotta work on lol

What is the type of person you hope your character will become? To say "happy" would be a cop-out, because he's anhedonic and that is kind of an uphill battle lmao. But I would like him to eventually embrace the idea of found family with the people he loves. He's literally never had something like that in his life before, and his inability to really recognize it is one of the reasons he hasn't come to think of it as such.

Do any of the Seven Deadly Sins stand out as applicable to your character? Why?
ENVY - He longs for the opportunity at an achingly normal life that he never had. He grew up alone in a hospital without much contact from an absent mother, and finally made his first real friend in college. To have brain chemistry that's at least somewhat normal is something he can't even imagine.

WRATH - It's not pleasant, but it's there. When Alex pushes Tim to his absolute limit, he utterly wails on the man. He's prone to anger, largely because this emotion is one he's worked to repress for most of his life, and tends to lash out first and foremost, whether it's clocking Jay in the face or crying as he stabs someone to death. Don't piss off people who cry when they're angry folks, they'll stab you seven hundred times and cry in your stab wounds. This wrath is double-edged; he'll turn it on himself just as easily as he will on others.

Do any of the Seven Virtues stand out as applicable to your character? Why?
KINDNESS - He's not even aware of this as something he has tbh, but Tim is very prone to compassion to people he feels like he can relate to on some level. He wants to give them something that he himself never had, which is company and understanding. He dealt with a lot of shit alone, and it was hell. The least he can do is make sure that no one else has to.

PATIENCE - In terms of second chances, Tim honestly gives far, far too many. This is a double-edged sword. He will actually apologize and forgive someone for actively attempting to kill him and making his life hell if it means that he can still help. Again, this has a lot to do with the fact that he'll eventually find a way to take the blame onto himself.

CHARITY - A LOT OF THESE ARE DOUBLE-EDGED SWORDS, HUH. Self-sacrifice is one of Tim's fucking default instincts, and this isn't really a good thing. He's a little too willing to throw himself on swords for other people's sakes tbh.

There's also a weird...PRIDE/HUMILITY thing, where Tim is on one hand kind of prone to being snippy and condescending, but he's also super prone to sacrifice and bravery, even if he doesn't really recognize it? Does it count as "humility" when he just kind...regards himself as collateral a little too easily and routinely dismisses his self-worth?? idk. So you can do with that as you will.
