Prior to coming to LifeAftr, what is an aspect of your character that they struggled with - be it a shortcoming, a fear, a bad habit, or eccentricity? She struggled a lot with her desire to be her own person in a society that emphasized political and social conformity.

What do they struggle with now? Is it the same as the above? As far as the above goes, a pretty big weight’s been lifted off of her, since she’s in a new place with much fewer pressures. Now, her struggle is her own denial and how she’s tamped down troubling memories, leaving some of her life back home a pseudo-mystery even to her. The incident with the flowers forced her to acknowledge in the back of her mind that there are things she’s not admitting to herself, and her death from that same event has given her an inkling of how dangerous that can be.

What personal demons, specifically, haunt your character from canon or from past game experiences? From canon, she turned in her friends’ forbidden book club, resulting in one of the teachers being executed, the other fleeing the country, and her friend Wei being imprisoned. She’s deeply in denial about this and doesn’t even allow herself to think about it consciously at this point, but it’s definitely her biggest demon. Another one, which she does allow herself to think on, is the breaking apart of her family.

What is the type of person your character hopes to become? She wants to become an independent person who can take care of herself and protect the life she chooses to create for herself. Most important, she wants to be able to be herself without having to change for others.

What is the type of person you hope your character will become? Someone who can be honest with herself and look at her own deeds and motives more clearly. I hope that she’ll gradually learn that she has to face what she’s done.

Do any of the Seven Deadly Sins or Virtues stand out as applicable to your character? Why?
Envy: With Mr. Chang, she shows herself to be very possessive of people she loves romantically, and she does not take it well when she thinks he’s been “stolen” from her (leading to the book club incident described above). She’s also envious of Ms. Yin for her academic talents, believing that her own are inferior.
Wrath: The result of her envy. As she puts it, she wants to “destroy” the person who gets in the way of what she wants.
Diligence: She may not always succeed in applying it, but she was a very good, dedicated student before her family fell apart.
