It's less uncaring and more he fully understands it doesn't define him as a person and he's going to live his own life. But that doesn't mean there aren't certain reminders that hit home hard and make him sad for a little bit (like idk seeing someone being really affectionate with their mum and dad make him think "I wonder if my parents wou- oh wait :("). He'll remember all the people who care about him, focus on that and bounce back quickly though. The whole thing has made him value his friends and the closest he has to family more though. And more determined to protect them too. Talking to more people with similar pasts would also help ease lingering issues too probably so talking to Drifter about it might be good for him too. If we can find a good opportunity for it (at this point, Drifter's more likely to find out via someone mind reading or being able to detect what someone is or whatever but who knows?).
