But silently, between them, EDI did something she had never done before, for another AI: She opened a communication channel between them, a direct exchange of data. And through that connection came the echo of her intelligence, a flash of mind, almost human, almost Reaper, neither in truth. She sent her sympathy, and her understanding, in a way that could not be mistaken for anything but what they were.
"Legion," This she said aloud, like breaking a spell, "I consider you... a friend. Your opinion of Shepard is founded in a legitimate fear. But you are not alone."
