On the night of the 27th, following the network's massive malfunction, the Storyteller made a distinct call for help. Fortunately, characters were very generous in their aid. With the help of the following character donations, the characters will discover that, on the morning of May 30th, the network is now completely stable and fully functional once more.

You have your fellow islanders to thank for that, of course. Be sure to express your gratitude if you see any of them!

All character donations combined totaled to fifty stories, which will ensure that the network will remain stable for the rest of the year. Well done islanders, and thank you to everyone who contributed!

But wait - there's more.

In March of 2018, we congratulated you all on your newly acquired Stones of Farspeech. This month, several characters have contributed to making the Stones even more nuanced. So once again we say congratulations...on acquiring the new iStone X! The Storyteller will announce this update on the 30th, alongside assurance that the network has now been stabilized. While our FAQ has been updated to cover the full details, the main changes this upgrade brings are as follows:

[ ♆ ] The original Bulletin Rock has now been recommissioned for another use entirely. Characters will now find that the five sides of the Stone bear the names of those who have previously been on the islands, and have since returned to their stories. These names will update every Friday.

[ ♆ ] Information previously posted on the Bulletin Rock can be found in a very small additional feature on your phone, albeit in a data archive that currently cannot be updated or edited. Hopefully, that information hasn't changed too much - otherwise, you're out of luck, until further upgrades are requested.

[ ♆ ] This update comes with texting and emojis, a feature requested a few months ago...without the text function to support it. As the Storyteller will have endeavored to ensure they collected an extensive library of these emoticons, you can expect that all your usual emojis are available...including any non-fandom plurk emotes.

[ ♆ ] For characters who are blind, legally blind, color blind, dyslexic, illiterate, or have other requirements to use a texting function, they'll find their new iStone will accommodate them immediately - be that with Braille, specially colored screens, voice-to-text, or dyslexic-friendly font types. If your character requires it, it is there for them to use, and automatically enabled.

[ ♆ ] While texting is now available, the abilities to send attachments, take photos, or record video are not. If your character would like any additional features, they'll need to organize a request of their own! In addition to this, other phone-friendly applications will also require suggesting and requesting, though the phones now have the necessary components to support them.

The information above has been added to our FAQ. Additionally, the sticky post at the top of the lifenet comm has been updated.

Lastly, keep in mind that the network is always open for improvement! If there's a feature your character would be keen on, or you personally like the sound of, don't hesitate to bring it up with us to see if the addition of this function can be arranged...for a price, of course.

Are the iStones all a standard size, or do they scale appropriately to the user?
Also are they strictly touch sensitive, or pressure sensitive (specifically, would they react to claws)?

Stones will scale with their user, ensuring they are a comfortable size for the person who intends to use them! As for touch, they're sensitive to the person they're bound to- in Starflight's case, using claws is just fine, as his claws are a part of him.

Does the text function come with a spell check?

Absolutely stupid question but when you said 30th, do you mean the characters could use the new text functions on 30th May or 30th June?

Not a stupid question at all! The text functions will be available on the morning of May 30th, the same day that the network stabilizes!

1) Are the displayed User IDs just the character's name, or are they chosen by characters?

2) This post says that the Storyteller will "announce this update on the 30th." Is that still happening, did I totally miss it, or is it okay to post without waiting for the IC announcement?

1) Displayed User IDs will match the name that was on the character's allotted knapsack when they arrived. At present, there is no means of changing them - though characters might be able to request that feature, if they like.

2) It's fine to post now! The IC announcement has been handwaved on our part - and we totally forgot to add that. Sorry for the inconvenience!

does the istone x have a traditional-ish style screen and can it break??

The iStone X is far more durable than anything made from Apple, as it is, essentially, an expansion of the Stone of Farspeech. Therefore, it is made of rock, and thus a little bit harder to break than your average iPhone.

To quote Bird: "These bitches are more like if nokia hadn't been bought out by google and also gained magic powers."
