October Trading Post!

Hello, everyone! A little late this month, but Casey here with that monthly trading post the mods mentioned a while ago! I lost track of time a bit, but I've pulled everything together now and we can all get things started! I'd actually like to put it to a vote if people would prefer this...meme? I guess???? Go up at the beginning, middle, or end of the month, so there will be a comment below for people to put in their thoughts on that, as well as sections for trading, projects, and general questions or suggestions for how to make this more useful to everyone!     BULLETIN BOARD?

    So, how feasible would it be to put a bulletin board up near the islets mana pool? It could serve as a rudimentary network/IC means of spreading info outside of handwaving it OOC or relying purely on logs. (And it could be easily replaced/left obsolete if the mods intend to introduce a proper network system at some point!)

    It would need a few tricky things, though. The board itself could be a simple hardwood frame, softwood board, a bit of a basic roof over it so rain doesn't Fuckign Demolish All of It, but it'd also involve:

    - Paper/parchment/vellum/bark/some kind of writing surface
    - Pins/nails/adhesive to put notices up
    - Writing implements/charcoal

    If this ends up happening, Ren has chalk characters could write with! She would leave a couple there for people to use, I'm sure, or someone could outright ask her for it. Her chalk can write on anything-bark/paper/monkey corpses/whatever.

    If chalk is an option then that could theoretically negate the need for some kind of paper! Just gotta get a reasonably smooth chunk of rock or something. There must be slate or a big rock worn down by water somewhere probably??

    HMMM THIS IS SOMETHING THE DRIFTER WOULD BE INTERESTED IN, YES

    they have their companion sprite which is like...magitech that lets em project text and stuff and it's pretty much keyed specifically to them, but there are also countless other sprites just like theirs in their world! they might be able to spend a favor to ask for one and try to rig it to work for anyone with a stylus or something

    I'D HAVE TO SEE IF THAT'S EVEN PLAUSIBLE especially since it might need to be set up near a mana pool to keep working properly, but it's a thought?

    If the tech route is at all feasible and if a sprite can project enough characters at a time to function as a message board, then that could make sharing Drifter's map pretty easy too! Presumably it could be uploaded from one bot to the next?

    going off the admittedly vague mechanics of their world i'm assuming that yes, it could. what the sprites are isn't exactly clear - it looks like they're standard drifter equipment since you can collect others just like the one you have, and every other drifter you encounter has one too and one drifter even uploads locations of certain objects to your map SO...

    I'D HAVE TO SEE IF THIS IS IN ANY WAY PLAUSIBLE LMAO BUT POSSIBLY?

    the twins do sell rough paper, charcoal and glue (and pins are probably easy to make out of bone shards), so that's definitely also an option!
