STATE OF THE GAME

State of the Game
Hello, dear adventurers! Once again, we'd like to thank each and every one of you for being a consistently rewarding and enthusiastic playerbase; as we swing full speed ahead into LifeAftr's metaplot, we find ourselves regularly floored by the level of interactivity and responses we get.

We have several updates for you today in regards to the game's progression, so let's get right into it!

In this edition of the State of the Game, you'll find the following topics:
♆ Network Update: Stones of Far Speech
♆ Player Projects
♆ NPCs
♆ General Page Cleanup
♆ Patch Notes
♆ A Word of Thanks

Network Update: Stones of Far Speech

As many may have noticed, there has been a large update to our network with the introduction of Stones of Farspeech, courtesy of Lup ([personal profile] hellawrath)! More information regarding this update can be found HERE. The FAQ has also been updated to reflect this information.

With this update comes the use for IC inboxes for something other than private, one-on-one correspondence! However, we would like to remind everyone that despite this, IC Inbox threads do not count towards AC. This includes the new inboxes detailed below.

Player Projects

After a good amount of talk for such a page, we are happy to introduce an official Player Projects Page, which includes information on IC resources composed by you, the players! If in future you would like to add an IC resource to this information, please don't hesitate to contact us or submit one yourself. Likewise, if we forgot to add someone's highly pertinent project, we'd absolutely like to add it as soon as we're able!

Those looking for the Projects Page can find it listed in our Main Navigation under "Housekeeping"!

NPCs

Our NPCs page has undergone some sizable updates to account for the new additions to LifeAftr's backdrop, including information on NPCs that have been met thus far. Information in regards to Ai'tuoh NPCs will also be added as more about these NPCs are discovered. For the moment, however, feel free to have a look at what is already available.

Additionally, on top of updating the Housing Page to reflect the gift left behind by the Jormun, both the Jormun and the Storyteller now have IC inboxes for interactions outside of event-based encounters. Handwaved interactions with said NPCs are also possible, with prior mod discussion.

Both pages supply information on how these interactions will likely occur. In the future, more NPC inboxes may be added for NPCs or NPC races that wish to stay in contact with you. Links to these inboxes can be found in the character's entry on the NPCs Page as well.

General Page Cleanup

A few of you may notice with some alarm that our Search Requests page has undergone a little bit of a cleanup. For those who may not have submitted a search request of their own, don't fret - it's simply that, for ease of navigation, search requests have been screened. Specific requests are still available to be unscreened upon request. The Locations page includes links to the individualized, square-by-square summaries for the contents of all islands, both past and present, in case you need to reference the information! We ask that you bear with us as we work on updating and cleaning up said pages for your benefit.

In the future, Item Requests may also be screened in order to ensure these pages remain easy for players to navigate. We have no intentions of deleting any of this information, so if at any point there is a piece of information you'd like access to, please let us know so we can supply it for you.

We have also changed the way we keep track of Accrued Offerings to keep the page from getting too overloaded. Instead of using strikethroughs on used offerings, we've opted to simply delete them from the page entirely once they're used!

Lastly, we have added a list of recently dropped/swept characters to the Drops page, which we will do our best to keep updated as characters are removed from game. This includes characters who fail AC. Our resident spider, Muffet ([personal profile] prettypurpleparlor), has also taken to keeping an IC list of these characters for the sake of ease!

Patch Notes

Of course, there is plenty going on in the background as well!
Future Islands: Our major focus over the past month has been finalizing the other islands you may visit up until the end of August. We are delighted by the amount of metaplot and mystery awaiting you all, and pleased to see how enthusiastically you've been engaging with it thus far!

Bestiary: Our bestiary is currently at a size that Bird has given up counting them. There's quite a lot. We ask that you bear with us as we try to sort out the vast number of beasts, as well as player submissions. If your submission hasn't cropped up yet, that doesn't mean we've forgotten it; it simply means that the settings haven't been suitable for its inclusion just yet!

FAQ: We've also been working on refining our FAQ page for clarification. Further explanation in regards to companion characters, test drive meme rewards, the belongings of dropped characters, and re-apping a character who has previously been in game are now all available!

Non-Compulsory AC: We have also added some clarification as to the purpose of the Chamber of Glyphs during monthly Storytellings, so that characters who are nonverbal or prefer artistic renditions may still share their stories!

Companion Character Deaths: As of the month of March, our policy regarding the deaths of companion characters has changed. Instead of requiring that they endure a death penalty, we will simply require the submission of an item request in order for a fallen companion character to be recovered, for the ease of all parties.

Search/Item Requests: Currently, we are still trying to handle most requests within a 24 hour turnaround. More complicated search requests and item requests tend to involve conferring between mods - if we haven't gotten back to you as quickly, that's probably the reason why! In regards to NPC responses, however, please continue to bear with us as our schedules continue to throw us about and hamper our ability to get back to you in that same timeframe.

A Word of Thanks

February was a very difficult month for many of us, and our mods have been no exception to this. We'd like to thank you for continuing to venture forward with us through March as the second arc of this world's story progresses.

As always, there’s a toplevel below for any questions, concerns, or feedback! If you feel something could be done better, or you’d like to comment on something that's working well for you, please feel free to utilize this. You can also contact the mods directly!

Question! Not related to this directly, but I figured this is a good place to ask.

I'm assuming this won't be an issue, but want to check anyway. Jullien is seriously pissed about what happened to people on this new island and in his usual "don't think things through" "fury tantrum" way I'd like to have him call out/ream out the Storyteller over the speech stones. He'd have no idea whether or not that would even reach the storyteller (and I don't care if it does or doesn't), but it's something he'd do regardless. Is that alright? Personally I don't care if he gets a response or not.
