OOC INTRO: MAY

State of the Game
Welcome, new arrivals, and hello again to the oldcomers! The month of April was relatively kind, all things considered. Aside from a few nosy vines, most characters have been devoted to settling on the home island of Ensō, or exploring the new island of Ziziphus. We recommend that newcomers read up on said island on either the locations page or its introduction post, so they have some context!

We've loved the feedback we've gotten about the game thus far, positive and negative, and encourage you to contact us whenever you feel it is necessary!

Our intro log will be going up on the comms on May 4th. Until then, a few quick points:

1. Deaths. Remember that, in the event that your character perishes, to let us know so that we can take a note of it, whether or not it counts for your character's total death count! If you're having trouble thinking of a penalty, we can definitely provide one for you. Remember to use the Deaths page for Death Penalty removal as well, once that time is up!

2. AC. We'll be switching to using the ACSavior tool to track everyone's activity from here on out! This means that, while we no longer require that you tag your characters in the comms to have your AC counted, we strongly recommend it for housekeeping purposes! Characters who fail AC will be swept. An additional reminder, also, to make use of the drop post should your time with LifeAftr come at an end instead of simply idling out; it helps us out a lot!

3. Search Requests. As Ziziphus has yet to be explored in full, it's not going anywhere anytime soon! We mentioned last month that its overall relevance to the plot will be much more similar to the central island of Ensō: how much players get from the island will depend on how much they explore. With that in mind, make sure to account for the satisfaction of other players, as well as IC limitations to how much your character can reasonably be expected to chart in one day; if they encounter some serious dangers, they may need a few days to recover before setting off once more. This month's event is exploration-based - it could happen at conceivably any time, based on who explores what squares on the map.

4. OOC Info. We've been working on an OOC timeline of the game's events for the ease of new players, or for those that want to catch up on missing context. In general, the information we're compiling will be ICly available in the form of asking the Storyteller, or merely asking other characters, but to save anyone the labor of tracking down older event logs and the like, we're hoping to get this new page out soon!

In the meantime, feel free to use this post as an OOC intro and CR meme for the month of March - for new players to introduce themselves, for old players to meet and greet, and for general plotting to occur! If you want to chat or keep up with game updates, we also have both a plurk and a discord channel!

Tell us about them: CRAU from sol_raveh. Depressed chain-smoker with arsonist tendencies that have now become less "tendencies" and more "default survival mechanisms." Has somehow become the island's Birthday Distributor if you happen to not know what your birthday is, and is in the process of unwittingly adopting a great deal of children. He's chock-full of mental health shit so feel free to give me a poke if there's anything that gets a little too Real. In general he's just...very tired, very hard on himself, but he means well, usually. He's also taken to setting things on fire when he doesn't know how to deal with them, so that's good.

Current plans: Tim has been building an bar/restaurant/café thing and it's a big deal! If your character wants to help or start working on the other buildings around his (he's on the H5 square for the curious), then let me know! I'm hoping it'll come together more definitively either this month or the next, seeing as he's had a lot of people chipping in and realistically that might be enough to get it all to come together!

Tell us about them: Tataru is from the MMO Final Fantasy XIV. While her friends are often off on feats of derring-do saving the whole world or parts of it or whatever, she's there on the home front making sure that the bills are paid, everyone is kept up-to-date, and also that everyone has fabulous outfits for the road ahead. Don't be fooled by appearances, she's not a child and is willing to do some surprising things in her support role for the others. If you need someone to fuss over your heroic type who doesn't look after themselves enough, gossip your ear off, or just to make nice clothing, she's your girl.
Current plans: RESTAURANT. Like seriously this restaurant is like her life mission now. She wants to help build it and make furniture for it and decorate it so basically she wants to hone EVERY SINGLE CRAFTING SKILL rn SO PLEASE HELP HER PRACTICE MAYBE. Still offering clothing commissions.

Shouto is the son of Japan's (current) Number One Hero, and seriously, fuck that guy. He's a kid with superpowers and very few social skills but a decent heart. Yes, his hair is naturally split down the middle. Yes, he has heterochromia, and yes, there is a giant burn scar on his face. Eventually I will bother getting not-manga icons but until then just Trust Me On This.

Lance is a Disaster. I really don't know a better way to describe him. He's just some teen with a psychic link to a fuckoff huge robot lion who's going to yeet some hyper advanced alien technology at the first available opportunity. He's from the end of S4 (because S5 isn't fair game until, like, tomorrow) and will be sure to ingratiate himself to all of Keith and Shiro's CR whether they like it or not.
Current plans: Shouto needs An Purpose, so I'm going to be hoping to get him into more exploration or if anyone has any projects he could help with, let me know.

Tell us about them: Adjustment to a world like this won't take long after living in space over a year. Nari comes from a rather traumatic place, but she still has hope and positivity that can shine through when she's surrounded by despair due to how her CR affected her in Airlocked. She can be aggressive, joking, and rather judgmental at times. She will not be trusting with new people are first, and will definitely refuse any cooked food offered to her if not part of her murdergame family. Nari has elemental abilities and medical training that she will use both freely if people will let her, even if her powers are limited now, that won't stop her from wearing herself out using them.
Current plans: Any CR is fine, but she'll try and mostly stick to her friends at first. Exploring is the name of the game so if you can convince someone who has survival training to come along with you, she can be a welcome addition to a team.

Seto: The post-apocalypse survivor/protagonist of Fragile Dreams aka Silent Hill For Kids. Attached at the hip with Ren and is BFFs with Crow and is going to celebrate the heck out of all of their new birthdays (Thanks Tim!). He's still working out his feelings regarding the Water but so far has let matters lie where they are. Likes collecting junk, can pick up the emotions contained in said junk and has a very deep fear of being alone.

Coming near the end of this week or so I will be canon updating Seto so he'll be buggering off for a bit. Sorry Ren.

The Hunter: Silent protagonist of Bloodborne who went looking for a cure to an unknown disease in Yharnam, got dragged into a nightmare of death, body horror and poor life choices. 0/10, can't really recommend it. He's coming in just moments before killing this friendly chap so he might smell a bit like blood. Spoilers the Hunter stinks. Someone please toss him into the ocean. Also very likely to get mauled to death by a Flustercluck because that's just how he rolls.

Current plans: ANYTHING. Positive or Negative CR is always welcome here! Just a warning for players who play visually inhuman characters that the Hunter will side-eye hard at best and straight up attack at worse because Bloodborne is Bloodborne and Bloodborne has a lot of inhuman monsters that keep trying to and have successfully killed him in the past. I will always PM you if I think a thread is heading in the direction, so this is just a heads up that a fight is possible with him.

Her adjustment to LifeAftr has been pretty slow but steady- she has come to consider this home, insofar as she can consider any in-between place a home. Her biggest goal is to get herself and everyone else back home as soon as possible so she can stop holding her world back from moving on past her death.
Current plans: I'm up for all kinds of CR! Unfortunately last month my activity just took a dive and I fell very far behind due to a Lot of reasons and became the RP cryptid that I was always meant to be, but this month is already shaping up to be better in terms of RPing than before. So I want to throw Shepard more out there for new CR, strengthening old CR, getting her to come out of her shell about her past and what she's done, and lots of other goodies! I'd especially love to get her back on exploration and whatnot!

While he'll need to get away for exploration sometimes he's largely going to be trying to upgrade their living conditions on the islets. He's a hardcore survivalist and has been living in a world with minimal resources for the last decade. This place is going to be paradise.

He also managed to out-goth the man who was literally possessed by a shadow demon. Currently, he's planning on figuring out What the Hell happened, trying to find his friends, and learn how to survive here. Tell us about them: Shion is a naive innocent boy who has white hair and scars from an incident with a parasitic bee. Tries to do the Right Thing but often misses the mark. Lived most of his life as an elite in a dystopian city, got rescued by an overdramatic jerk and began to learn the Truth about the world.

Before he really did so he got snatched from said world and thrown into a horror tower for two and a half years. It was bad but there were some good things and one of those things was the family he found. He ended up on the islands instead of back on his world, literally snatching defeat from the jaws of victory and he's learning that just because he escaped doesn't mean that everything is okay.

Ai'Tuoh brought up a lot of stuff for him, hitting on a lot of his issues. He's a mess is what I'm trying to say here. April was quieter and he did a lot of thinking and trying to be a better brother to Aster. He organised a meeting of islanders last month to get information also he's an ecology nerd so he's enjoying exploring Ziziphus despite the dangers

In less dangerous science Hinata and Shion are planning on setting up a clinic so he will probably be collecting things for that this month and generally letting it be known

Tell us about them: CRAU'd from sol_raveh, Chara arrived here after trying to ERASE themself from time and space which caused... issues? Issues. Currently still going by the name Kidwun (but really not for much longer at all) Chara is bitter, sharp-tongued, and pretty ready to be a snot to anyone they feel deserves it, which can be for anything from actually posing a threat to just existing. Current plans: Chara's currently hiding from their Partner, Frisk, due to like, punching them in the face? On top of grieving for a few people they've recently or not so recently lost. For the moment though, I'm leaving this month pretty open! MYIA is a gremlin who doesn't know manners or how to interact with people without (un???)intentionally insulting them. She's paranoid as fuq and thinks everyone is a weird alien or something, aside from a few people who are "normal" (so far, Muffet and the Drifter). She's having a Time guys.

MERLE is new and he's going to be joining the cryptids at Camp BASE. He's a dwarven cleric with no connection to his god (though he's used to that, don't worry) and basically the only thing he can do right now is take his shirt off and transport people with him to Mu. He also has a flying broom that he loves more than anything. He has an ardor for arbor and usually is eager to spread the word of Pan, but he's kinda pisst at Pan rn.

Current plans: I want Myia to start exploring some but I don't know what I'm doing so if anyone wants an awful irritating fly along for the ride on one of their explorations please hit me up.... THE LIBERATOR is a telepath/telekinetic from a postapocalyptic future where her people are barely even at a stone-age level of culture. Survival and hunting and such are really where she shines, along with stabbing the shit out of things. Overall a good egg but definitely on a very weird alternate level compared to modern-day folks.

KASAI is a chain-smoking arsonist, and shamelessly and remorselessly a very bad man. But for a guy whose 'thing' is lighting stuff (and sometimes people) on fire, he's also pretty chill overall and likes to give life a bit of thought and play armchair philosopher once in a while.

THE LIBERATOR needs to get out doing more stuff and making more CR! Search parties, hunting, getting to know people, learning about writing, all that jazz. She's a little off-put by how many people here aren't telepaths, so it feels a little too quiet. I need to get her doing more stuff in general, that's my bad this last month.

KASAI will be getting settled on the islands! Please point this man in the direction of smokes; he normally goes through 8 packs a day, he's gonna die over here. Probably trying to find stuff he can use for making cool fires, y'know, like ya do. Big beach bonfire times, maybe.

Tell us about them: A thousand-plus year old undead reaper of death for a queen of death, and acts significantly goofier than that sounds. Takes his job a bit too seriously, but compassionate and a nerd at heart. Completely too awkward to know how to exist properly. Used to be a skeleton and is doing kind of a poor job at adjusting to no longer being a skeleton. Getting a little better at not yelling at everyone who's ever died before, but like, still kind of doing that.

Current plans: He's spent his first month getting the shit mentally kicked out of him, but I'd like to get him out there more- right now his closest CR are other elf camp members (Taako, Lup, Ren, and Seto) but he needs to meet people and start cracking into his shell. Happy to put him out anywhere people want him!

Tell us about them: Taako is someone else's D&D character (elf, wizard, problem) that I'm lightly borrowing. He's skittish but pretends not to be, smart (ish) but pretends not to be, but the part where he will absolutely sell you for a single corn chip is legit and not a pretense (mostly). He and his twin sister Lup have cornered the island market for alchemicized wares, as well as started some kind of jungle compound with castmates, pets, and stolen children. They have a fridge and everything.

Current plans: Current plans revolve around various birthday celebrations and Handling a sudden influx of castmates. I'm always open to CR of pretty much any kind, though.
