OOC INTRO: JUNE

State of the Game
...now, now. Don't look at us like that. We know that at least some of you were happy to see the end of Bliss.

Welcome, new arrivals, and hello again to the oldcomers! May sure was a busy month for all of us, wasn't it? Between exploring an island, fighting some sentient plants, and killing a god, you islanders have been awfully busy. The island of Ziziphus won't be around for much longer, we're sorry to say - but we still do recommend that newcomers read up on said island on either the locations page or its introduction post, so they have some context for the intro log!

We've loved the feedback we've gotten about the game thus far, positive and negative, and encourage you to contact us whenever you feel it is necessary!

Our intro log will be going up on the comms on June 4th. Until then, a few quick points:

1. Deaths. Remember that, in the event that your character perishes, to let us know so that we can take a note of it, whether or not it counts for your character's total death count! If you're having trouble thinking of a penalty, we can definitely provide one for you. Remember to use the Deaths page for Death Penalty removal as well, once that time is up!

2. AC. As of last month, we've officially switched to the ACSavior tool! This means that, while we no longer require that you tag your characters in the comms to have your AC counted, we strongly recommend it for housekeeping purposes! Characters who fail AC will be swept. We will also be following up with players who are getting consistent strikes or regularly passing with the bare minimum. An additional reminder, also, to make use of the drop post should your time with LifeAftr come at an end instead of simply idling out; it helps us out a lot!

3. Setting Changes. As we mentioned earlier, Ziziphus won't be around for very much longer - the god that lived there certainly lived there, to a very, er, "in-depth" extent. For those who were with us back in December, you'll be seeing a very familiar shape on the horizon, come this month's intro...

In the meantime, feel free to use this post as an OOC intro and CR meme for the month of June - for new players to introduce themselves, for old players to meet and greet, and for general plotting to occur! If you want to chat or keep up with game updates, we also have both a plurk and a discord channel!

Tell us about yourself: Hello, my player hearts! I'm Angel, and I am one of your modly types. I live on over in EST and my work schedule is a hecking mystery 70% of the time, with 100% guaranteed long shifts. This renders me a bit of a slowpoke, but I'm always willing to backtag!
Characters: Currently I play Frisk (souldeterminant) from Undertale, currently going by the alias "Kittu"; and Ichimatsu (ichininyaanshi) from Osomatsu-san!

Tell us about them:

Frisk is a young RPG hero who's fallen into a world of monsters, both killed and been killed by them a hundred or so times, and finally liberated them to the human world. They're also CRAU'd from a game that saw them fighting a war against shadows within a castle, and they've gone through a heck of a lot. Currently, they're a bit shaken and riding on autopilot from a recent fallout with their castmate and fellow CRAU Chara, but at their core, they remain themself: quiet, blunt, a little bit intense, and a dirty lover of dank puns.

Ichimatsu is the fourth oldest of his sextuplet siblings, and the only one of them currently here in LifeAftr. He's a bad tsun and loves that #Edge, but he’s actually been working at becoming half a decent person lately. And he loves cats. He really fuckin loves cats. Like, if you're a cat, or you have a cat, or you like cats, you've got it made. Everyone else I'm really sorry, know that he's mostly bark and usually not much bite. He also has weed growing under his treehouse?? That happened. Come take some. Please.

Current plans: I was on hiatus last month, so this month I’m mostly focused on rolling back into things. I don’t have immediate plans for either Frisk or Ichimatsu, but both are in great positions for new CR and the opportunity to deepen existing CR, both of which I’m totally down for!

Tell us about them:

TIM is a some dude from a web series called Marble Hornets (aka that one slender man webseries that Started It All) and a CRAU from sol_raveh. Depressed chain-smoker with arsonist tendencies that have now become less "tendencies" and more "default survival mechanisms." Has somehow become the island's Birthday Distributor if you happen to not know what your birthday is, and is in the process of unwittingly adopting a great deal of children. He's chock-full of mental health shit so feel free to give me a poke if there's anything that gets a little too Real. In general he's just...very tired, very hard on himself, but he means well, usually. He's also taken to setting things on fire when he doesn't know how to deal with them, so that's good.

THE DRIFTER is from an indie game called Hyper Light Drifter because obscure canons are, apparently, My Business. Silent, blue-skinned wanderer who communicates via sign language and/or a little bobbing sprite thing that hovers by their shoulder and projects text. They're suffering from an incurable terminal illness and learning what it is to live in a world where people Aren't Fantasy Racist. They've made a lot of wonderful friends tho, and are...perhaps more impressionable than they realize, picking up certain forms of speech and body language from the people they trust and hang around most often c:

AGENT WASHINGTON is from a web show called Red vs. Blue, which is a halo-based machinima about colorful space soldiers thats funny until it stops being funny and starts being really fucking sad. he's a space marine who just needs a fucking nap, honestly. He's BRAND SPANKING NEW and...is maybe in the best mental state he's canonically been in for years? golly i cant wait to fuck it up like, fucking immediately. in general, he's pretty dependable in a crisis, is a highly accomplished killer, and has a hell of a Traumatic Past. but he's getting better, kinda. he's not gonna be happy that he's not with his team anymore, but he also has faith in them to make it just fine without his interference at this point. ain't that a bitch?

Current plans:

TIM has been building an bar/restaurant/café thing FOR MONTHS because he keeps getting set back by small cases of stabbed-itis and related ailments, what a loser. If your character wants to help or start working on the other buildings around this endeavor (he's on the H5 square for the curious), then let me know! I'm hoping it'll come together more definitively this month, seeing as...HE'S BEEN DOING THIS FOR SOME TIME NOW and realistically the number of people helping him will have sped shit up dramatically.

THE DRIFTER currently has no outstanding plans. No new islands to explore yet means they have run out of new ground to cover. They are, however, teaching sign language for anyone who's interested in learning that. Might be useful. You never know.

WASH is new. what a loser. i wanna focus on establishing him this month, so let me know if you want a weird, neurotic space marine up in your business!!

Permissions: Here It's mostly just general permissions stuff but there's also a bit about A.I. hacking for other robot/synthetic characters. It's not really something I expect them to ever use, but it'd be good to know whether people who play such characters are okay with it.
Tell us about them: Legion is from the bad end version of the Rannoch storyline, the one where Shepard lets the Quarians destroy the Geth. They're not precisely hostile, but they're extremely wary.
Current plans: They were murdered by their friends and have now arrived on a strange island. Right now I just want Legion to get their bearings and maybe start to realize that no, they're not going to be murdered for being a Geth.

Tell us about them: A young woman from the world of Remnant, a world of colorful action and fairytale references. Pyrrha Nikos was a shining student at Beacon Academy, training to be a Huntress and making friends in the meantime..... But, that was a long time ago. This Pyrrha comes from theairlock where she was forced to survive a murdergame in space, masquerading as a fake reality show. Managing to escape with her friends, she spent a year as a space pirate, met other survivors, lived on a new planet for a while, became a jedi, got captured again, and ultimately lived to put an end to it. She also got pre-engaged, so there's that exciting tidbit.
Current plans: I'm up for every kind of CR!! Because Pyrrha is brand new here and she's gonna be a bit shaken?? So the plan is mostly to get her settled in and getting accustomed to this world.

Tell us about them: Foster is a necromancer with psychosis and he does not have an 'off' button. He was born terminally ill, and while he's stopped actively dying, he has never stopped being on his bullshit. He was NOT born a nine-foot tall horse-bear-cow-taur covered in multicoloured mushrooms, but life comes at you fast.
Current plans: I am basically anticipating a whole boatload of negative CR, and that's fine with me. He is probably going to starve very quickly without help, however... he's an inflexible vegetarian with no survival skills to speak of and no sense of self-preservation.

Gladio is the King's Shield first and foremost, he is duty-bound to the royal line and takes that very seriously. Protecting his King and his friends is also probably one of the only things he takes seriously. He's loud and usually very good-natured, if a little more somber now he's in his 30s. He's your typical big brother type. He will play around with you and flirt shamelessly with your friends but the second someone says it's on he will wreck them.

He's recently been stabbed in the belly so he's a little slow going (thanks Laurent) and not up for big exploration parties but he needs to make friends and he's very useful at building things! (there's also a tone of Drama with the Kingsglaive that he wants to pretend doesn't exist y'know as you do)

Tell us about them: the Hunter: Protagonist of Bloodborne and most likely to win LifeAftr's "I got eaten by the flustercluck and all I got was this lousy death penalty" award. He's fairly new to the island and is currently learning to try and chill when it comes to the monster/less human population, because coming off of a life of killing and being killed over and over by horrible eldritch abominations does not help in that department. Otherwise the Hunter is a fairly alright guy, if a kind of quiet one.

Seto: Kid that is pretty much attached to Ren's hip more often then not. Seto is the protagonist of Fragile Dreams, aka Silent Hill For Kids but is pretty cheery despite that. Kind of silly and prone to indulging Ren and Crow's ideas because that's just what you do for your best friends and he'll probably do that for you too if you're nice. He's gotten a bit serious due to his canon update, however, and is gonna be looking into a cure for Ren's sickness (and good luck with that).

Current plans: The Hunter will soon start exploring the island once things settle down a bit more so if anyone is interested in doing some joint explorations and Seto will be looking into trying to find ways to cure Ren of her illness (permanently if possible but who knows). Last month I dropped the ball because of a few things that were going on IRL so I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things now that I'm in a bit of a better place, so hit me up with whatever!
