OOC INTRO: JUNE

State of the Game
...now, now. Don't look at us like that. We know that at least some of you were happy to see the end of Bliss.

Welcome, new arrivals, and hello again to the oldcomers! May sure was a busy month for all of us, wasn't it? Between exploring an island, fighting some sentient plants, and killing a god, you islanders have been awfully busy. The island of Ziziphus won't be around for much longer, we're sorry to say - but we still do recommend that newcomers read up on said island on either the locations page or its introduction post, so they have some context for the intro log!

We've loved the feedback we've gotten about the game thus far, positive and negative, and encourage you to contact us whenever you feel it is necessary!

Our intro log will be going up on the comms on June 4th. Until then, a few quick points:

1. Deaths. Remember that, in the event that your character perishes, to let us know so that we can take a note of it, whether or not it counts for your character's total death count! If you're having trouble thinking of a penalty, we can definitely provide one for you. Remember to use the Deaths page for Death Penalty removal as well, once that time is up!

2. AC. As of last month, we've officially switched to the ACSavior tool! This means that, while we no longer require that you tag your characters in the comms to have your AC counted, we strongly recommend it for housekeeping purposes! Characters who fail AC will be swept. We will also be following up with players who are getting consistent strikes or regularly passing with the bare minimum. An additional reminder, also, to make use of the drop post should your time with LifeAftr come at an end instead of simply idling out; it helps us out a lot!

3. Setting Changes. As we mentioned earlier, Ziziphus won't be around for very much longer - the god that lived there certainly lived there, to a very, er, "in-depth" extent. For those who were with us back in December, you'll be seeing a very familiar shape on the horizon, come this month's intro...

In the meantime, feel free to use this post as an OOC intro and CR meme for the month of June - for new players to introduce themselves, for old players to meet and greet, and for general plotting to occur! If you want to chat or keep up with game updates, we also have both a plurk and a discord channel!

Tell us about yourself: Hello, my player hearts! I'm Angel, and I am one of your modly types. I live on over in EST and my work schedule is a hecking mystery 70% of the time, with 100% guaranteed long shifts. This renders me a bit of a slowpoke, but I'm always willing to backtag!
Characters: Currently I play Frisk (souldeterminant) from Undertale, currently going by the alias "Kittu"; and Ichimatsu (ichininyaanshi) from Osomatsu-san!

Tell us about them:

Frisk is a young RPG hero who's fallen into a world of monsters, both killed and been killed by them a hundred or so times, and finally liberated them to the human world. They're also CRAU'd from a game that saw them fighting a war against shadows within a castle, and they've gone through a heck of a lot. Currently, they're a bit shaken and riding on autopilot from a recent fallout with their castmate and fellow CRAU Chara, but at their core, they remain themself: quiet, blunt, a little bit intense, and a dirty lover of dank puns.

Ichimatsu is the fourth oldest of his sextuplet siblings, and the only one of them currently here in LifeAftr. He's a bad tsun and loves that #Edge, but he’s actually been working at becoming half a decent person lately. And he loves cats. He really fuckin loves cats. Like, if you're a cat, or you have a cat, or you like cats, you've got it made. Everyone else I'm really sorry, know that he's mostly bark and usually not much bite. He also has weed growing under his treehouse?? That happened. Come take some. Please.

Current plans: I was on hiatus last month, so this month I’m mostly focused on rolling back into things. I don’t have immediate plans for either Frisk or Ichimatsu, but both are in great positions for new CR and the opportunity to deepen existing CR, both of which I’m totally down for!

Tell us about them:

TIM is a some dude from a web series called Marble Hornets (aka that one slender man webseries that Started It All) and a CRAU from sol_raveh. Depressed chain-smoker with arsonist tendencies that have now become less "tendencies" and more "default survival mechanisms." Has somehow become the island's Birthday Distributor if you happen to not know what your birthday is, and is in the process of unwittingly adopting a great deal of children. He's chock-full of mental health shit so feel free to give me a poke if there's anything that gets a little too Real. In general he's just...very tired, very hard on himself, but he means well, usually. He's also taken to setting things on fire when he doesn't know how to deal with them, so that's good.

THE DRIFTER is from an indie game called Hyper Light Drifter because obscure canons are, apparently, My Business. Silent, blue-skinned wanderer who communicates via sign language and/or a little bobbing sprite thing that hovers by their shoulder and projects text. They're suffering from an incurable terminal illness and learning what it is to live in a world where people Aren't Fantasy Racist. They've made a lot of wonderful friends tho, and are...perhaps more impressionable than they realize, picking up certain forms of speech and body language from the people they trust and hang around most often c:

AGENT WASHINGTON is from a web show called Red vs. Blue, which is a halo-based machinima about colorful space soldiers thats funny until it stops being funny and starts being really fucking sad. he's a space marine who just needs a fucking nap, honestly. He's BRAND SPANKING NEW and...is maybe in the best mental state he's canonically been in for years? golly i cant wait to fuck it up like, fucking immediately. in general, he's pretty dependable in a crisis, is a highly accomplished killer, and has a hell of a Traumatic Past. but he's getting better, kinda. he's not gonna be happy that he's not with his team anymore, but he also has faith in them to make it just fine without his interference at this point. ain't that a bitch?

Current plans:

TIM has been building an bar/restaurant/café thing FOR MONTHS because he keeps getting set back by small cases of stabbed-itis and related ailments, what a loser. If your character wants to help or start working on the other buildings around this endeavor (he's on the H5 square for the curious), then let me know! I'm hoping it'll come together more definitively this month, seeing as...HE'S BEEN DOING THIS FOR SOME TIME NOW and realistically the number of people helping him will have sped shit up dramatically.

THE DRIFTER currently has no outstanding plans. No new islands to explore yet means they have run out of new ground to cover. They are, however, teaching sign language for anyone who's interested in learning that. Might be useful. You never know.

WASH is new. what a loser. i wanna focus on establishing him this month, so let me know if you want a weird, neurotic space marine up in your business!!

Pyrrha Nikos was a shining student at Beacon Academy, training to be a Huntress and making friends in the meantime..... But, that was a long time ago. This Pyrrha comes from theairlock where she was forced to survive a murdergame in space, masquerading as a fake reality show. Managing to escape with her friends, she spent a year as a space pirate, met other survivors, lived on a new planet for a while, became a jedi, got captured again, and ultimately lived to put an end to it. She also got pre-engaged, so there's that exciting tidbit.

Tell us about them: Foster is a necromancer with psychosis and he does not have an 'off' button. He was born terminally ill, and while he's stopped actively dying, he has never stopped being on his bullshit. He was NOT born a nine-foot tall horse-bear-cow-taur covered in multicoloured mushrooms, but life comes at you fast.
Current plans: I am basically anticipating a whole boatload of negative CR, and that's fine with me. He is probably going to starve very quickly without help, however... he's an inflexible vegetarian with no survival skills to speak of and no sense of self-preservation.

Gladio is the King's Shield first and foremost, he is duty-bound to the royal line and takes that very seriously. Protecting his King and his friends is also probably one of the only things he takes seriously. He's loud and usually very good-natured, if a little more somber now he's in his 30s. He's your typical big brother type. He will play around with you and flirt shamelessly with your friends but the second someone says it's on he will wreck them.

He's recently been stabbed in the belly so he's a little slow going (thanks Laurent) and not up for big exploration parties but he needs to make friends and he's very useful at building things! Tell us about them: the Hunter: Protagonist of Bloodborne and most likely to win LifeAftr's "I got eaten by the flustercluck and all I got was this lousy death penalty" award. He's fairly new to the island and is currently learning to try and chill when it comes to the monster/less human population, because coming off of a life of killing and being killed over and over by horrible eldritch abominations does not help in that department. Otherwise the Hunter is a fairly alright guy, if a kind of quiet one.

Seto: Kid that is pretty much attached to Ren's hip more often then not. Seto is the protagonist of Fragile Dreams, aka Silent Hill For Kids but is pretty cheery despite that. Kind of silly and prone to indulging Ren and Crow's ideas because that's just what you do for your best friends and he'll probably do that for you too if you're nice. He's gotten a bit serious due to his canon update, however, and is gonna be looking into a cure for Ren's sickness (and good luck with that).

Current plans: The Hunter will soon start exploring the island once things settle down a bit more so if anyone is interested in doing some joint explorations and Seto will be looking into trying to find ways to cure Ren of her illness (permanently if possible but who knows). Last month I dropped the ball because of a few things that were going on IRL so I'm hoping to get back into the swing of things now that I'm in a bit of a better place, so hit me up with whatever!

Post-revival and post-game, she headed off to Thedas with her new boyfriend Varric Tethras, and she's coming fresh from there.
Current plans: NOT MUCH YET beyond reunions with her castmates and Airlocked CR, but I'm eager to have her explore and meet new people! He's a salty mess and he may seem sweet and shy at first but he has a lot of issues and pent up anger and acknowledged canon problems that could get into uncomfortable territory so I'll put a warning on those if they happen in game. Gets motion sick but somehow the writers forgot to acknowledge this later. Likes cereal, waffles and dinosaur chicken nuggets.
Current plans: Trying to get him re-adjusted to the game and build both his current CR and get more. Since I didn't have him keep his memories, he's just wtfing at everything. Tell us about them: Shion was a naive elite child from a perfect city who got liberated by an overdramatic jerk, had an incident with a parasite bee which turned his hair white and his eyes red, learned about the Real World TM but before he could continue his journey of learning how everything was awful he got whisked away to a Horror Tower towerofanimus and spent two and a half years learning that... well yes everything was awful. The characters there achieved end game but instead of going home to fix things and save his friend he ended up here instead.

And here has been interesting. As it stands Shion has come to the conclusion that he is probably an awful person despite trying hard not to be and that he is dangerous and will end up hurting those he cares about. This was exasperated in the bliss attack. He is generally friendly though, can pretend to be not a messed up puppy long enough to have a decent conversation. He loves plants, is starting a garden. He will also babble forever about science if you let him.

Current plans: So most people would deal with feeling like they are probably going to end up hurting everyone by isolating themselves but not Shion. He's probably going to throw himself more into trying to help everyone more. He also believes that talking about stuff is ultimately better than not so he's going to try and talk to some people about Bliss and their dream worlds.

He and Hinata are looking to open a clinic, we will hopefully get that up and running this month

Tell us about them: In Rinzler's canon, all computer programs are secretly sentient life. He used to be a protag type called Tron, but was reprogrammed into the villain's best murder-slave about a thousand computer-years back. But, Rinzler's also got a couple years CRAU under his belt, which have brought him through such milestones as "deciding he's a person" and "relearning how to speak". He's not fantastic at either, and still views violence as the best (sometimes only) problem-solver.

But, progress! He also glows constantly, does backflips near-constantly, and makes a rrrrring sound everywhere he goes.

Current plans: Rinzler is shiny brand new, so he's open for any and all CR! Allies are welcome, but I also love him stirring shit. So if you want someone to pick a fight with or generally develop negative CR, I volunteer him readily. Tell us about them: A thousand-plus year old undead reaper of death for a queen of death, and acts significantly goofier than that sounds. Takes his job a bit too seriously, but compassionate and a nerd at heart. Completely too awkward to know how to exist properly. Used to be a skeleton and is doing kind of a poor job at adjusting to no longer being a skeleton. Getting a little better at not yelling at everyone who's ever died before, but like, still kind of doing that. Mostly mess, partially competent.

Current plans: Kravitz is still pretty knew but he's a little shaken up from the whole Bliss thing last month, so he's chillin' close to his cast + Ren because she's very nice to him and he needs that. Tell us about them:
Ammy is a white wolf reincarnation of the Japanese sun goddess. She weilds the very powers of creation itself in the form of her Celestial Brush, with is really just the tip of her tail that she uses as a calligraphy brush. She has had her powers drastically cut in LA but makes do with what she has, and being not at 100% isn't new to her anyway. Most people can't see her god form and that's totally fine with her - they'll usually see her as a white wolf or a white dog. She is super duper friendly and loves basically everyone unconditionally and immediately. Even more so if you're a woman with nice tits. LISTEN I DON'T MAKE THE RULES. Also her stomach is a bottomless pit, she will eat anything you give to her granted it's edible and not something that'd make a canine sick.

She's also super strong, super fast, and will pee on your leg or shit on your doorstep if you piss her off. Careful, the latter tends to explode if she really dislikes you (I wish I were kidding about this).

Guzma is the ex boss of a gang of thugs known as Team Skull. He's rough and tough and would easily curbstomp anyone that messed with him - and yes, he does have the brute strength to back up those threats - and also has two very powerful and dangerous insectoid pokemon to back him up. Golisopod and Ariados are the two he has with him and they love and protect their trainer ferociously. Ariados is highly poisonous and very quick, while Golisopod is the tank. Slow, but can take a hit and dish it out like a goddamn canon. He also has one attack that always strikes first, but is single use. Thankfully, both pokemon are exceedingly friendly toward people unless they're threatened or you make an enemy of their trainer.

Also, I must warn for some triggers. Amon all the pokemon games, Sun and Moon deals with some subtle but very dark topics, and Guzma's background is especially bad. It's heavily implied he has dealt with physical/child abuse as well as verbal/emotional abuse in the past and that does tend to come up a few times in my tags, I will warn for it, always. He's a very damaged young man (not a kid, he's 25 how I play him), but he's a good rowdy boy that does his best.

Current plans: Looking for CR with both of them. Ammy needs more people to hang around with and more things to do. ALSO MORE ARTISTS!! She is a painting goddess and misses making beautiful pieces for people to look at. She's also been hard at work creating a community garden in the Monkey Compound for people to benefit from. She is a very good, good dog. uwu

Guzma is much the same. Looking for CR with him, negative and positive since he's trickier to get along with, but he's also looking for people to spar with and actualy learn to really fight with. He can hold his own in a fistfight, but he's looking to be taught some actual martial arts and how to use a gun properly.

Tell us about them: Taako is an elf wizard from a D&D podcast. His name IS pronounced like the food, which should tell you the avg seriousness level of the source material, though it is also heartrendingly sincere and highly recommended. Taako, a hefty chunk of his canon, and a child he stole are living in a horrible camp in the jungle and running Island Walmart out of the temple. here is a uuuuusually up to date store inventory, Laura (hellawrath) prods me into making an IC store post....periodically.

Edward Elric is CRAU from Ryslig, and so has been transformed into a hairy goat-man with bat wings and a bigger chip on his shoulder than usual. Thanks to the Storyteller he no longer has that horrible horror-game cannibalism going on, but his temper and general suspicion of non-monsters still remains. He's overall a fairly friendly guy and willing to help out people in need, but he has little patience for bullshit and is easily riled up. He's recently regained some use fo his alchemy, so in addition to having plenty of muscle to spare he can craft relatively simple objects so long as the chemical components of the final product are at hand. He has been looking after the farm on Enso E6, as well as keeping a coop of Bludroc near his hut with Ginko.

Chip Abaroa is a norman ten-year-old, aside from the whole 'part demon with a terrifying werehyena aunt' bit. They're simultaneously energetic and withdrawn, the trauma of previous abuse still showing it's mark on them. Their demonic heritage grants them a few unique abilities, but mostly it just served to fuel a nasty temper that can have them launching into impulsive action or wild self-hatred. They try very hard to be a good kid, but...sometimes the deck can be stacked against them.

Current plans:

Edward needs get more into exploring, and just generally making more contact with people--he's turned into a fucking recluse and that's no damn fun for anyone.

Chip is going to have a pretty rough month with the arrival of their oh-so-favorite castmate Foster to the game. (They hate and fear him. What cruel god decided to make FOSTER into a FAE????) Anyone that would like to figure out what this child is screeching about or just wants to make a small and emotionally unstable friend is welcome!

Snarky, prone to violence and about the least trustful person you'll ever meet, they are somehow easier to obtain CR with than prior, so huzzah for going soft!

Barry is a recent addition to the game and still has a long ways to go to settle in? Yeah. Kind of a boring person in comparison to the rest of his colorful cast, he's nonetheless pretty happy to reach out and chat to people, with a Ph.D. in Whatever Science Griffin Decided He Wanted Him To Have At That Point In Time which should be...useful? Maybe?

So due to a bad roll Chara will be poisoning themself this month on some flowers it's fine it's fine. Expect to see them about Ziziphus before it falls in particular before this shit goes down and they basically get bedridden for two weeks- I'm totally down for both positive and negative CR with them and more than happy to play off of CRAU relationships people have had with them in past!

Barry is still settling and there's a bunch of stuff I need to do with his cast, so he'll likely be more available later in the month. Tell us about them: Ram is an actuarial program in a canon where programs are (unknown to humans) sentient inside the computers. He's a friendly one, and usually up for conversation or a friendly game. Although initially not coded to be anywhere near combat, circumstance has left him highly capable and willing to fight if necessary. He also died. That wasn't fun.

Following his death (deresolution in program terms), he wound up in the game I'm CRAUing him from where he met some familiar faces. Or circuit patterns... Leaving that game, he assumed he would be sent back to his home system and dead status, so turning up here instead is going to be a welcome surprise.

Current plans: I am open to any and all interactions and CR! What with Ram thinking he was going to be dead again, he's going to want to make the most of this new opportunity. He's always willing to meet new people and hopefully make friends, but will not sugarcoat if he doesn't like you. He's also eager to find something to do. He likes to be useful and hasn't had a steady purpose in a while.
