OOC INTRO: APRIL

State of the Game
Hello, and welcome, to both new arrivals and more seasoned explorers! The month of March saw adventurers exploring the new island of Cahypdo, making friends with the local people, the Roaka, and feeling that fertile earth move under their feet. Those of you who are new to the game or have not had a chance to do so already are more than welcome to trade with the Roaka - though we recommend you do so before this month's event.

We've loved the feedback we've gotten about the game thus far, positive and negative, and encourage you to contact us whenever you feel it is necessary!

Our intro log will be going up on the comms on April 4th. Until then, a few quick points:

1. Cahypdo. As the newest island in the archipelago, we recommend that anyone new to the game read up on the island of Cahypdo, due to its relevance in the intro log...and for this month's event!

2. Event Scheduling. Speaking of events, last month we held a poll to see how you would like to see us schedule events going forward. The uncontested conclusion was a preference for events to take place earlier in the month. As such, this month's event will start us off in that direction, with the event being held from April 10th to April 15th, with lasting consequences that will persist until the end of the month!

3. Dark Mode. Lastly, it was brought to us last month that our code is not very functional in dark mode. While the fix is fairly straightforward, LifeAftr has a fair amount of code to pour over in order to ensure all our pages are updated. We'd like to thank those who alerted us to the issue - and also encourage anyone to approach us if you notice a page, paragraph, or section that we've missed fixing up, once we've done so! We've already begun correcting a few pages, but we would be happy for anyone to let us know if we've missed anything.

In the meantime, feel free to use this post as an OOC intro and CR meme for the month of April - for new players to introduce themselves, for old players to meet and greet, and for general plotting to occur! If you want to chat or keep up with game updates, we also have both a plurk and a discord channel!

I couldn't remember until I literally pulled the game up on google. Which made it feel even longer ago... Apparently I played Frau from 07-Ghost (who I still dabble with now), Tsuzuki from Descendents of Darkness, and Hakuren from Saiyuki.

I dunno about friends with this guy :D He's kinda... a hot mess who likes to pretend he's stoic because What is Dealing with your pain, Can you Eat it.

...both are from Card Games are Serious Business lands tho.

Yes, who needs to deal with your pain? Jules is on that ship too, though he plays the asshole card because of his past issues instead of the stoic one.

How did you wind up with two card playing boys?!

Fandom overlap! :D Thought there's less playing with Kamen Rider, but the whole "monsters sealed in cards" thing is def a common point :) Even did a mashup musebox of the two worlds because why not

With Tachibana, in his world there's a deck of monsters who were created to battle for which species would dominate the world, and some idiot accidently released them, so it wound up being his job to go fight these immortal things and keep the world from being rebooted. Big hitch being that he's kinda a researcher nerd and not at all a fighter but he was compatible so he took on the job.

But yeah, there's a very amusing amount of fandom overlap between YGO and Kamen Rider. It hits a lot of the same buttons/itches/yes good moments.

That does sound like a lot of overlap. I've only ever vaguely heard of Kamen Rider and never knew it was so similar!

And you would not believe how useful YGO knowledge is to my job. I work in the schools, and it's still just as popular with some of my boys.

Like YGO, there's multiple series of Rider, Blade is just one of them. Some of the others have a lot less overlap. The main exception is Fourze. Which is like. The other half of YGO in Rider land since it's all FRIENDSHIP POWER!! and takes place in a high school :D Mysterious transfer student plotline and everything. Also there's some major GX references in Ex-aid but spoilers

Nice! I've been mostly tutoring girls the past year so it hasn't come up there yet. BUt it did help when I was subbing in the middle school sometimes. :)

Oh yeah. I have one third grader that we've gotten into big discussions together.

If you ever want to deal with the mess that is Jules here, let me know! I'm always game, though I know he's kind of a hit or miss character for people.

I'm always up for giving things a try! Need to figure out Bakura's top level outside fanboying over OMG treebeard and friends so cool still, but if you wanna hit up this guy or want me to poke your top level, can do!

Haven't done a top level. I'm always pretty hesitant about them since Jules is a trigger character here. I try to be careful who I tag so I don't upset anybody with him.

Got Tachibana's top level up first and gonna get Bakura's up next while I still have ideas. Only caveat with Tachibana is that telekinesis and telepathy are very much his personal triggers (There is exactly one character in Blade that has those abilities, and that would be Isaka. Who... really messed Tachibana up. To. Put it lightly.)

But no worries about tagging either of them. Just the warning that Tachibana might try punching/shooting Jules in the face if he gets too many Isaka flashbacks off him.

Jules doesn't try to use his telepathy for the most part. It just happens. As for the telekinesis, he very rarely uses that either. Far less exhausting to just use his own strength. The fire breathing is far more common.

By the way, is Garren sentient? Like, would Jules realize this is more than just some creature that lives on this new island since he can see into minds without meaning to?

Fire is Tachibana's element~ He's all good with that!

And yep! Garren is kinda like a combination pokemon and small child. He's non verbal, so he wouldn't be thinking in words, but there would be emotions and colors (since one of his forms is a dragon that has empathy that transmits by way of being bursts of mental color and it stuck) and pictures and the like.

Edit: Bakura's top level is up too now!
