July Exploration: Ignotum Fatum
JULY EXPLORATION: IGNOTUM FATUM
Those of you interested in exploring the underwater structures discussed in our OOC Event Information may do so here! Instead of linking to our Search Requests page, we've chosen to consolidate all OOC discoveries regarding this particular location into one post.

The opportunity is finally yours to find some answers, dear explorers. The underwater structures are yours to pick apart and study at length...as long as you're not stretching the time limit you have to your underwater shape, of course.
Even from a distance, it's apparent that most of these structures have been through quite a lot. Given that they look very much like they were meant to exist on the surface, it's very likely that they were built there and then subsequently sank. The design of each construct is relatively simple, but sturdiness was an evident priority - many of these structures have retained their basic shapes despite whatever it is they may have been through. Certain arches and pillars and supports may seem reminiscent of an almost Greco-Roman architectural style...though if you've been with us for long enough, these buildings might remind characters of a certain other city. Nothing as utilitarian or simplistic, but there's no doubt about it: this sunken city shares many general structural elements with the city of Ai'tuoh.
Bear in mind that the return of this area in the future is not guaranteed. Characters must work together to cover as many of the structures as possible. Planning ahead and searching groups is advised. Also keep in mind the restrictions of the sne'akleriad - characters can only remain in their aquatic form for thirty hours at a time, and the underwater city has no places to rest. Characters may be attacked by predators and other threats, and not every find will be able to be physically transported back to the surface.
So tread wisely!

Below, we have provided the map to the entire area for underwater exploration. As opposed to our standard grid-based exploration system, searchable areas have instead been divided into numbered sections. Each number corresponds to the building or general sub-area that characters may search.
To search any part of the city, respond to our search top-level below. Remember that standard search request restrictions apply, as detailed on our Search Requests page. Make sure to use the event plotting post, as well as any other OOC avenues of communication you might need, to communicate with your fellow players as to who wants to search what!
Hover over a location for its name. Click on the location to read its description, and whatever has been found inside or around it. If a location has not been searched, it will simply read its number, and will not link to anything.

10 | COMMUNITY HALL
With a wide, expansive floor that must have once been made of smooth stone tile, this building is unique in that it hosts very few additional rooms besides the one that dominates the majority of the floor. With the skeleton of an old stage and the crumbled ruins of old chairs and podiums, it's apparent that this must have been some sort of meeting or assembly hall. Without anyone to fill it, the space is vast and expansive; the ceilings must have once been high and proud.
One can find smaller rooms located near the back of the building, behind the stage. These appear to be rooms for storage, if the piles of chairs are any indication. A number of old chests can be found in these areas as well. If travelers look inside, they'll discover all sorts of peculiar objects: moldering cloth that looks as though it may have once been ornate, colorful fabric; rusted skeletons of old lanterns whose glass has been broken and blown out; oblong wooden signs whose letters are almost entirely illegible.
Almost. At least one of those signs is still readable, though only just. Most of the letters have been worn away, but the faint outlines of letters can still be read: RICATOR.
Some of the word is missing.
It's also advisable that you travelers tread carefully. This old building houses multiple oolicks, oozing around corners and sandwiched between crushed walls. One would be forgiven for assuming them to be little more than fat, hairy ticks formed entirely from shadows, with a morass of stubby, waving limbs. The oolick is much faster underwater, and secretes an oily black trail, not unlike squid-ink, that you'd be best not swimming through. It's dangerously toxic when exposed to oxygen, akin to acid with how quickly it can burn through skin and clothing. And if one of them surrounds you, even attempting to fight them off might not save you, as their blood is just as corrosive. But the true danger comes from what happens when they manage to close in, for at that point, they seek to engulf you entirely. Being trapped inside an oolick is not painful, per se, but that does not mean it is pleasant; an oolick's interior locks you in a perpetual state of utter sensory deprivation that grows harder to recover from the longer you remain mired within. It's possible to free you, of course, by cutting you free from the oolick's mass, but the aftereffects of being trapped in a total sensory vacuum can plague you for weeks after.
Most of the materials and supplies that were once present in this building seem to have been lost over time. This is, perhaps, not surprising, given the state of this entire settlement and the length of time it's spent underwater. That doesn't mean travelers won't find anything of note, however...
It's just that what they find seems a little out of place. For one, some of these objects don't look as though they ought to exist down here in the first place, given how rudimentary most of the building materials are. For another, they don't seem as worn as their dilapidated surroundings...like someone else has been through here before, maybe.
Scattered on the floors and just outside the building are a number of objects that travelers might uncover. They're not being kept in any drawers or desks, however, further increasing the sense that they don't quite belong here. With enough scrounging, explorers will uncover the following:
