July Exploration: Ignotum Fatum
JULY EXPLORATION: IGNOTUM FATUM
Those of you interested in exploring the underwater structures discussed in our OOC Event Information may do so here! Instead of linking to our Search Requests page, we've chosen to consolidate all OOC discoveries regarding this particular location into one post.
Che Vibra ed Arde
The opportunity is finally yours to find some answers, dear explorers. The underwater structures are yours to pick apart and study at length...as long as you're not stretching the time limit you have to your underwater shape, of course.
Even from a distance, it's apparent that most of these structures have been through quite a lot. Given that they look very much like they were meant to exist on the surface, it's very likely that they were built there and then subsequently sank. The design of each construct is relatively simple, but sturdiness was an evident priority - many of these structures have retained their basic shapes despite whatever it is they may have been through. Certain arches and pillars and supports may seem reminiscent of an almost Greco-Roman architectural style...though if you've been with us for long enough, these buildings might remind characters of a certain other city. Nothing as utilitarian or simplistic, but there's no doubt about it: this sunken city shares many general structural elements with the city of Ai'tuoh.
Bear in mind that the return of this area in the future is not guaranteed. Characters must work together to cover as many of the structures as possible. Planning ahead and searching groups is advised. Also keep in mind the restrictions of the sne'akleriad - characters can only remain in their aquatic form for thirty hours at a time, and the underwater city has no places to rest. Characters may be attacked by predators and other threats, and not every find will be able to be physically transported back to the surface.
So tread wisely!

Below, we have provided the map to the entire area for underwater exploration. As opposed to our standard grid-based exploration system, searchable areas have instead been divided into numbered sections. Each number corresponds to the building or general sub-area that characters may search.
To search any part of the city, respond to our search top-level below. Remember that standard search request restrictions apply, as detailed on our Search Requests page. Make sure to use the event plotting post, as well as any other OOC avenues of communication you might need, to communicate with your fellow players as to who wants to search what!
Hover over a location for its name. Click on the location to read its description, and whatever has been found inside or around it. If a location has not been searched, it will simply read its number, and will not link to anything.

Also how fucked would a metal detector that runs on mana pool sigil magic instead of electricity be?

Is there any possibility of re-searching areas? Specifically, I know Kravitz would want to revisit the temple at 2 a few times to see if it's opened up with other areas searched. Specifically he'd also like to bring one of the orbs there and see if it reacts- he has the one from building 14 if it helps. If this isn't the right place to put this/it should be it's own search request, let me know and I'll post down there!

SEARCH REQUESTS
For this event, each character is limited to submitting one search each week, per our standard policy. However, characters may also band together with others for an additional two search requests, but these requests must be submitted by another character.
Bear in mind that you may encounter unique discoveries and hazards for the duration of this event!

Character Name/Journal: Muffet (
Character(s) Accompanying: Hector, Kravitz, Zidane.
Area searched: 2
Date of search: The 10th. She's here, she's queer, she's gonna figure this out if it kills her.
Additional notes: Muffet would likely be doing relatively well underwater- frankly, her aquatic form is less troubling than having been turned into a human a little while ago, and is armed with magic. If not actual visible weapons. She would be examining everything carefully, especially in light of how it might relate to her dream.

2 | UNIDENTIFIED BUILDING
(no subject)

no subject
Character Name/Journal: Keith Kogane
Character(s) Accompanying: Zidane, Castor, Drifter
Area searched: 3
Date of search: The 11th
Additional notes: If Keith’s pendant is relit by then they have some light. But they’ll be doing a through search. They’ll try to get into locked doors and all cautiously but barring that try to force their way in. Keith will be their cautious one and pull people back if an attack happens.
3 | SPIRES
no subject
Character Name/Journal: Horatio Nullbuilt (
Character(s) Accompanying: Drifter
Area searched: 12
Date of search: The 10th
Additional notes: Horatio's alternate form is no better at combat, but fitting his normal role he's got some built-in utility: tools, lights, and a short-range sonar to not crash into things in dark or clouded waters. I am assuming Drifter will still be armed and combat-ready.
12 | BATHHOUSE
no subject
Character Name/Journal: Beauregard (
Character(s) Accompanying: Two, Fjord, Jester, Mollymauk, Yasha
Area searched: 1!
Date of search: the 11th
Additional notes: Everyone except Two and Beau can see in the dark via Darkvision, so they can see in pitch black as if it was dim light or dim light as if it was bright up to 60 feet. It's all in black and white though, no color. In addition, Beau just got her Googles of Night fixed up, which allow anyone wearing them the same benefits. As always, the Nein have a bunch of magic at their disposal and actually have fought underwater before, though admittedly not with fins. They will be armed, dangerous, and full of screams.
1 | GUILD HALL
no subject
Character Name/Journal: Edward Elric (
Character(s) Accompanying: Roman Gulliver, Tim Wright
Area searched: 1a
Date of search: 10th
Additional notes: Ed doesn't have too much trouble in the water--it's close enough to flying with the manta-form that he can adapt fairly quickly. He's keeping a close eye out for any monsters; he's effectively got Darkvision and he's got his hatchet with him (as well as That Pistol, though that's literally a last resort).
1A | FARMLAND (1)
no subject
Character Name/Journal: Héctor (
Character(s) Accompanying: Ed, Ginko
Area searched: 5
Date of search: 11th
Additional notes: Just looking! Héc will be a skeleton of a merman, not all that different (or stronger) than his normal self, other than the ability to swim instead of sinking like a loser.
5 | CRAFT CENTER
no subject
Character Name/Journal: Ginko (
Character(s) Accompanying: Epsilon
Area searched: 6
Date of search: 11th
Additional notes: If they run into any plants down there Epsilon may ask them what's up, but that's about it!
6 | INFIRMARY
no subject
Character Name/Journal: Erika Fisher (
Character(s) Accompanying: Two
Area searched: 10
Date of search: 11th
Additional notes: Erika Definitely has a knife on her, but otherwise, not much to note!
10 | COMMUNITY HALL
no subject
Character Name/Journal: Leonard Church (
Character(s) Accompanying: Ardyn
Area searched: 21
Date of search: 12th
Additional notes: Both are armed (Church's sword, Ardyn's dagger and natural magic), and Ardyn is getting along with his feesh form just swimmingly. Church meanwhile is still weirded out and forgets he doesn't actually have legs rn like a fucking mini-sub because Weird Fish People Magic but hey, it works. They're mostly just poking around out of curiosity.
21 | STORAGE WAREHOUSE
no subject
Character Name/Journal: Lup (
Character(s) Accompanying: Taako, Kravitz
Area searched: 20
Date of search: 12th
Additional notes: This squad is armed with darkvision and magic! Lup will also bring the metal detector she got for Umui and if it dies, it dies. They'll be searching carefully for anything that looks interesting, valuable, or plot-relevant.
20 | CURING HOUSE
area 4!
Character Name/Journal: Rin Okumura (
Character(s) Accompanying: Yukio Okumura
Area searched: 4
Date of search: July 12th
Additional notes: Both Rin and Yukio are used to having their forms messed with by Fae magic, so being mermen isn’t too wild or wacky by any means. Rin is armed with his sword and elemental magics. This is Rin’s first exploration, though!

Character Name/Journal: Starflight (
Character(s) Accompanying: Izuku Midoriya
Area searched: 2a
Date of search: July 11th
Additional notes: Starflight will not be struggling too much with the aquatic form, his world has a precedence for undersea dragons and he was raised by one so while he may not have direct experience he knows the theory of how to move about. He'll be on the watch for any attackers, but mostly be trying to find any clues or information about the archipelago (and if they happen to find any nice treasure, that is always a bonus). He won't have his fire breathing, but teeth, claws, and his superior sense of smell (similar to shark?) would still be available. Izuku will be unarmed (aside from his powers) and is bringing some sort of container/carrier in case they find anything.
2A | FARMLAND (2)
no subject
Character Name/Journal: Marvus (
Character(s) Accompanying: Karako
Area searched: 13
Date of search: The 12th
Additional notes: They're just there for funsies so they're not looking for anything in particular. Marvus didn't bring his sword but he has all his troll shit and won't hesitate to bite. Karako...has no swimming experience and might be distracted by that but his knives work better underwater so he has those strapped on.
13 | ARCHIVE (1)
no subject
Character Name/Journal: Herbert West (
Character(s) Accompanying: Erika
Area searched: 7
Date of search: The 11th
Additional notes: Herbert is being very fastidious in his searching. He's looking for specifically things that he could use for Science but he's also up for general information. He has zero fighting skills, which is why he brought Erika who has a knife and is ready to throw down at all times.
7 | MARKET HALL

Character Name/Journal: Faust (
Character(s) Accompanying: Legion, Zidane
Area searched: 8
Date of search: July 12th
Additional notes: It wouldn't be a search with Faust if he wasn't looking for flora or fauna with potential medical applications! In addition, the good doctor and Legion will be using their respective traits to light their path (Faust's glowing head glamour, Legion's flashlight head). Faust in particular will also be visibly armed with his giant scalpel.
8 | DINING HALL (1)
no subject
Character Name/Journal: Izuku Midoriya(
Character(s) Accompanying: Guzma
Area searched: 15
Date of search: The 13th.
Additional notes: Izuku's not really bringing much in the way of offense beyond having One For All, and will be trying to avoid antagonizing anything - his aquatic form has some defensive spines but isn't really made for fighting. He's yet again bringing along some type of bag or other container to collect more portable finds, and will be going over everything as thoroughly as if it were a crime scene. Guzma isn't bringing any weapons or tools, though he is keeping Golisopod out with them to act as support.

15 | LOWER TEMPLE
no subject
Character Name/Journal: Guzma (
Character(s) Accompanying: Beau, Yasha
Area searched: 11
Date of search: 14th
Additional notes: Golisopod will also be accompanying as added muscle, but pretty sure these assholes are pretty safe on muscle, all things considered, wheeze... Guzma does have a spider silk bag/net or goodies, and took his knife with him, though it's more for utility than as a weapon.
11 | SCHOOL

no subject
Character Name/Journal: Edward Elric (
Character(s) Accompanying: Ginko, Epsilon
Area searched: 9
Date of search: 15th
Additional notes: Ed's the muscle of this group, and he's got his hatchet with him again. Epsilon will attempt to chat up any plantlife that has moved in (if any), and Ginko has his eye out for anything that seems Important.

Character Name/Journal: Kravitz (
Character(s) Accompanying: Lup, Taako
Area searched: 14
Date of search: 16th
Additional notes: As always, squad as darkvision and magic, and Lup has her metal detector if it hasn't already been trashed underwater. They should be able to handle any fighting that comes their way, but primarily they're digging for pure info and anything they can bring topside.
(Also I'm aware this is Kravitz' last allowed search for the week!)
14 | ARCHIVE (2)
no subject
Character Name/Journal: Legion (
Character(s) Accompanying: Keith, Connor, Castor
Area searched: 18
Date of search: July 16
Additional notes: Connor is, apparently, an unusually good swimmer. Legion, like all Geth has a big glowing eye + lots of smaller less useful glowing bits, so that should help with any darkness.
