OOC INTRO: JANUARY

State of the Game
Hello again, islanders, and welcome newcomers! In December, the island of Chol made its debut, bringing with it dire hints as to the state of LifeAftr for the duration of January. We heavily encourage newcomers to read up on the specifics of Chol as linked above, as this will be relevant in the intro log. We've loved the feedback we've gotten about the game thus far, positive and negative, and encourage you to contact us whenever you feel it is necessary!

Our intro log will be going up on the comms on January 5th. Until then, a few quick points:

1. Deaths. Remember that, in the event that your character perishes, to let us know so that we can take a note of it, whether or not it counts for your character's total death count! If you're having trouble thinking of a penalty, we can definitely provide one for you. Remember to use the Deaths page for Death Penalty removal as well, once that time is up! An event in the latter half of January will come with a high risk of death, meaning that the span of time for death penalties will be significantly reduced

2. AC. We would also like to take this opportunity to remind people to tag their characters in the comms. This is the only compulsory form of AC we have, but after the first few months, we are going to stop warning people for forgetting to tag their character. Characters who fail AC will be swept. An additional reminder, also, to make use of the drop post should your time with LifeAftr come at an end instead of simply idling out!

3. Additional goodies. Newcomes showed up with some extra treats in their knapsacks, to better prepare them for the cold and dark days ahead. This should have been noted in everyone's acceptance notices! Please let us know if, for some reason or another, you didn't receive these particular goods.

In the meantime, feel free to use this post as an OOC intro and CR meme for the month of January - for new players to introduce themselves, for old players to meet and greet, and for general plotting to occur! If you want to chat or keep up with game updates, we also have both a plurk and a discord channel!

Tell us about them: Muffet is a magical spider monster from the video game Undertale, who mostly spends her time trying to intimidate people into buying her (also magical) baked goods in order to raise money for her fellow spiders. ...This cause has not been strictly relevant in LifeAftr, seeing as how she's the only spider monster here that we know of, so she's mostly been trying to help out her fellow castaways instead.
She's also finding out there was a lot more going on in her home world than she ever realized...
Current plans: Do you need a Mom Friend? ...Do you have a choice in the matter?
But no, seriously, Muffet's main goal at the moment is to help as many people as she can not freaking die. This is mostly going to involve offering food, healing, warm clothing, and some helpful advice about the things on the islands that can kill you. It's... it's a lot of things.
She also has a lot of questions about the nature of the gods and LifeAftr in general, so I'm happy to be involved in any metaplot going on. :D

Awww, yes. Come to the spider lady, Cat-Eyed Boy, she will feed you cookies and show you which plants are poisonous versus the ones that are safe to eat.

He has some basic knowledge of what plants are good to eat and what aren't but it's always nice to have a semi-local guide. Plus cookies! That he doesn't have to steal!

Mostly her knowledge is 'I planted this one and it grew blackberries, I saw someone eat that one and they passed out for a few minutes'. She will inform him of this while giving him cookies, because food is a good way to keep children's attention while you're talking to them.

Forgive me for being slow paste but I adore Muffet and I want more Muffet for both of my garbage lovers

I think Frisk in particular is pretty close to just dropping the whole act with her, especially after the memory thread, so golly if you want to do something with that I'm 100% down

Absolutely would love to do more stuff with Frisk. Definitely really curious to see how the memory thread turns out, I think that's going to be a big influence on how Muffet decides to handle their whole situation going forward. She would be super relieved if they decided to drop the act with her, she's been trying to respect their boundaries and not push too hard but she's increasingly worried about whatever is going on with them.

Also, I figure it's been long enough for that pear tree to have started growing some proper fruit, and Muffet hasn't forgotten her initial promise of pear cider to Ichimatsu. I was thinking I'd toss a post of her dropping it off for him into his IC contact page, if you're good with that?

Awww, definitely come to the spider lady, she will happily make him pastries and take any issues he has with food into account if he mentions them. They have more ingredients to work with now, she can expand her repertoire a bit.

Muffet is like five feet tall at the most and she's still really big compared to other spider monsters, it's all cool.

Come over to the spider shack, Guzma, she'll make you a poncho and probably also some hot tea so you don't freeze to death.

...Now that I think about it, she may also be worried about Ariados and Golisopod, so hopefully he'll explain to her that they're okay inside the Pokeballs and don't have to worry about the cold with everyone else.

OH MAN A PONCHO ;A; He would love that holy shit. and while not a tea drinker, he would try it?? I mean, he's not willing to use up all his cocoa, so he will try your LEAF JUICE, I GUESS.

and yes, his pokemon will stay in their pokeballs mostly, but cold doesn't bother bug pokemon like it bothers regular bugs (ice isn't super effective against bug for some reason?? I went so long thinking it was....), so they're be okay for a while before needing to go back in their balls and get cozy again.
