OOC INTRO: NOVEMBER

State of the Game
Welcome, newcomers, and hello again to the oldcomers! October was a harrowing month for us all. The Storyteller's absence caused Mu to wreak a little havoc on character pasts, presents, and futures, but now that they've returned, order has at last been restored. Relative order, anyway.

We've loved the feedback we've gotten about the game thus far, positive and negative, and encourage you to contact us whenever you feel it is necessary!

Our intro log will be going up on the comms on November 4th. Until then, a few quick points:

1. Umui. The island of Umui will be disappearing by November 5th. There are a still few pockets of exploration to be had - better cover what ground and retrieve what supplies you can while it's still around!

2. Nuidan. The island of Nuidan, on the other hand, is still present in the archipelago. Characters, new and old, are welcome to sign up for tasks and rewards, as well as propose tasks and rewards of their own if it suits them.

3. New Island. The votes are in, and the majority of islanders favored the fourth option presented to them: an island is represented by golden flames, a set of scales, and a number of shapes that resemble birds. As of November 10th, this new island will be making its debut. We'll have more information for you then.

In the meantime, feel free to use this post as an OOC intro and CR meme for the month of November - for new players to introduce themselves, for old players to meet and greet, and for general plotting to occur! If you want to chat or keep up with game updates, we also have both a plurk and a discord channel!

Tell us about them:

TIM is a some dude from a web series called Marble Hornets (aka that one slender man webseries that Started It All) and a CRAU from sol_raveh. Depressed chain-smoker with arsonist tendencies that have now become less "tendencies" and more "default survival mechanisms." Has somehow become the island's Birthday Distributor if you happen to not know what your birthday is, and has kind of come to adopt a great deal of stab-happy children. He's chock-full of mental health shit so feel free to give me a poke if there's anything that gets a little too Real. In general he's just...very tired, very hard on himself, but he means well, usually. He's also taken to setting things on fire when he doesn't know how to deal with them, so that's good.

THE DRIFTER is from an indie game called Hyper Light Drifter because obscure canons are, apparently, My Business. Silent, blue-skinned wanderer who communicates via sign language and/or a little bobbing sprite thing that hovers by their shoulder and projects text. They're suffering from an incurable terminal illness and starting to understand that they're getting attached to people here, big time. Oh Shit.

AGENT WASHINGTON is from a web show called Red vs. Blue, which is a halo-based machinima about colorful space soldiers thats funny until it stops being funny and starts being really fucking sad. he's a space marine who just needs a fucking nap, honestly. in general, he's pretty dependable in a crisis, is a highly accomplished killer, and has a hell of a Traumatic Past. but he's getting better, kinda. he's not happy that he's not with his team anymore, but he also has faith in them to make it just fine without his interference at this point. ain't that a bitch?

Current plans:

TIM still runs Denny, which is LifeAftr's one and only restaurant. Let me know if you wanna work there! We can handwave if you want, or if you want some good establishing threads for nascent CR that definitely flies for me too. I'm going to try and get a Denny mingle up once a month if possible, unless extenuating circumstances make that unlikely or unnecessary! This month, I'd like for him to get some groups together for the carpentry tasks - LET ME KNOW IF YOU'RE INTERESTED!

THE DRIFTER has been forced to take massive strides in regards to how they do in fact Give Many Shits about a lot of people around them!! it's confusing and theyre not sure how to handle it. theyre having a small crisis? the guardian is here??? this is fucking them up????? theyre coping by doing Nuidan tasks, including making a library happen because hISTORY IS COOL. if you were part of their search req group or the library task group PLEASE HIT ME UP HERE. if you want to do more nuidan tasks before the island disappears, HIT ME UP because the drifter is super super about doing shit all the time!!

WASH is not loving life atm due to how CT has lost her Airlocked memories and he's gotten some eerie glimpses into his future and this is not great. trying not to panic. how cope. HOW COPE? he'll cope by probably doing more nuidan shit and then exploring the heck out of this NEW ISLAND. whoever wants to be in on that, let me know!!

Tell us about them: LOCAL BOY RETURNS AFTER BEING DROPPED, CANON UPDATED AND REMEMBERING EVERYTHING - Lance is excitable, energetic, and filled with crippling insecurities. Also he used to pilot a giant magic lion mech. There's not much else I can say to describe him at the moment, really. He'll be freshly returned once the IC intro goes up.

Tell us about them: HMD post, IC contact, A Very Cheerful And Silly Skeleton who is absolutely miserable on the inside. Literally held together with duct tape, as his right arm and left leg are broken, and not able to heal on their own because he's slowly fading away. Wears his usual ratty pants and this stupid shirt most of the time. And no shoes. Shoes are for everyone else. Will talk your ear off about nothing and be as helpful as possible. Gets attached to people very very quickly, because one never knows when they might disappear. Also really, really into playing dumb games with any and all kids!! And card games with all the adults. He's really into de-stressing people with his card games and rambling. THIRD OR MAYBE FOURTH TIME IS THE CHARM TO COPY/PASTE THE EXACT SAME BIO?

Current plans: Right now he can't speak until the 20th, so enjoy the silence. Probably he'll pick up some sign language along the way and gesture wildly at things. He may be the one who hates being mute the most, he loves to talk and does not like to be alone. No real plans, he'll just Do His Best and is up for anything. Also, his birthday is the 30th and he deserves nice things. Please do him a party.

Tired, mute bug child who's always Ready To Go and ready to do new things, which hurts as much as it helps. Adventurous, fearless, and far too curious for their own good.

Current plans: More people to explore with, and people to spar with! They're looking for fighting buddies - specifically people who can teach them something new beyond their already extensive repertoire of tricks. They're also itching to learn some crafts skills, as Nuidan has made it clear that they're lacking in this area.

I'd also like to get some help with this! Maintenance and repair work in exchange for a forge.

The Knight is still blissfully oblivious to what the future holds, but all in all this month has been...........not great for them, really. They got impaled by their sibling and they're still trying to figure out how to feel about that, Quirrel ghost made them grumpy, etc etc. They'll be a bit moody, but otherwise ready for adventure (and may throw themselves into exploring the new island in order to do so).

Connor dies within the first twenty minutes of Dear Evan Hansen, so. Depending on if you talk to Connor or Evan first, you're gonna get a wildly different version of canon. Especially since Connor still only has a vague idea of what the fuck happened after he died.

Damen is super straightforward: he's beefy and he loves Laurent. That's all there is to it. Every month I try to make him sound interesting and it's just like . . . no? He's just here to be hot and talk about how much he loves Laurent.

Current plans:

Connor is available for Boat Stuff, as per usual, but I don't have any specific plans other than I know at some point someone should maybe . . . ask Connor about the whole situation with Shion and explain the importance of actually saying what you mean.

Damen, on the other hand, is having a birthday at the end of the month! Which is hilarious, since I'm involved in the planning for that but Damen himself is not. He's also available for any exploration where you might need a horse . . . or just someone to stand around looking pretty . . .

Tell us about them: Shion was a naive elite child from a perfect city who got liberated by an overdramatic jerk, had an incident with a parasite bee which turned his hair white and his eyes red, learned about the Real World TM but before he could continue his journey of learning how everything was awful he got whisked away to a Horror Tower towerofanimus and spent two and a half years learning that... well yes everything was awful. He died far too many times. The characters there achieved end game but instead of going home to fix things and save his friend he ended up here instead.

He us currently not dealing with feelings about Connor and also not dealing with feelings about Nezumi ghost and his visions. He really needs to sort himself out.

He can mostly pretend not to be a messed up puppy long enough to have a conversation though and will babble about science forever if you let him and he loves animals!

Current plans: Any and all CR is good! His aforementioned melodramatic jerk is turning up so he is going to have Feelings about that. Also its Asters birthday this month so he will probably organise something for that. Or at least let her friends know it is her birthday.

Permissions: General permissions and power permissions. I'll add a warning page too, but I'll say that Nezumi comes from a crapsack world. Since a lot of bad things (tm) are just normal for him, he has no filter about it.

Tell us about them: A survivor from a city where most die young, Nezumi is resourceful, capable, well-educated, and confident. He's also snarky, rude, sarcastic, and focuses on self-preservation. In his life, trust normally means pain so he's built his life around trusting no one, though some white-haired boy messed with that plan.

There's a good chance he'll bully you with Shakespear.

Current plans: I'll be focusing on getting him settled in this month. As mentioned before, I'd love all forms of CR.

Laurent comes from Captive Prince, a medieval political intrigue series! Which is basically also a BL. I should probably have said that first, huh. He's affectionately referred to as a snake, thanks to his quirky personality traits of stabbing men in the first tagback (sorry Gladio) and general refusal to make friends. Laurent will absolutely sell you out for one corn chip even if he's done nothing of the sort yet. Currently comes with a big dog boyfriend fiance named Damen.

This version of Laurent is a CRAU from the Madoka-inspired game soulgemmed, and comes with magic (and uh. other Madoka-related complications.) But hey, he got a horse out of that deal so at least he sold his soul for something!

Current plans:Damen's birthday is at the end of November, so he'll be scamming people into attending a birthday party. Otherwise, I'm up for anything!
He is (still) currently a hunter by trade and lives near the FFXV bros on islet 1.

Tell us about them: CT is an Airlocked! CRAU, so she's post-death three times now (once in canon, once in Airlocked, and now once in LifeAftr). Post-Airlocked, she spent some time in Thedas with her fiance Varric (from Dragon Age) and she still misses him a lot...usually. AT THE MOMENT, though, she's suffering her first death penalty and has lost all her memories of Airlocked! and everyone she met there.
Current plans: As always, I adore both positive and negative CR, but CT can always use more friends and people coaxing her out of her shell! Her lack of Airlocked memories has made her a little less moody and more willing to Just Accept life here; as far as she's concerned Enso is the best place she's ever lived and she never wants to leave.

Her current circle of close CR is very small and I'm really looking to expand it and form some connections, so please don't be shy about plotting or just tagging in. She does have an open post, and as it says there I'm happy to write up custom starters! CT can be a champion sulker and has a little bit of a sarcastic streak, but she also tries really hard to be a Good Person and she cares a lot about people even if she doesn't always know how to show it. Be her pal!

Permissions: This is important!! Foster is mentally ill on main and also a necromancer, please by god fill this out for me.
Tell us about them: Foster is a necromancer with psychosis, which is basically the worst combination for making friends. He thinks people being nice to him proves you're lying to him, and rarely misses an opportunity to tell you how wrong you are about everything. He also rarely misses an opportunity to tell everyone how wrong HE is about everything. It's hard to tell if he enjoys hating himself more or less than he enjoys you hating him, hopefully you like arguing.

He's also a nine-foot tall mushroom-covered bear-armed centaur, because CRAU is a riot.
Current plans: He got in trouble with the Storyteller last month for really inappropriate use of Lance's dead body (necromancy, not.... no.) Now he can't even THINK about blood magic without BARBIE GIRL playing in his head at maximum volume, preventing him from thinking about anything else. Good times! Ideally I'd like to start getting some more varied CR... positive CR would be really nice (so to speak?), or even negative CR that he can rely on. People are a lot less willing to be a jerk to him than he's comfortable with and it's freaking him the fuck out.
Anything else: I don't have any memes, but I'm very concerned with ensuring everyone is having fun and not just me, so like.... please feel free to hit me up or let me know if something is taking a turn towards something you don't enjoy, I'm mega flexible.
