OOC INTRO: MARCH

State of the Game
Hello, and welcome, to both new arrivals and more seasoned explorers! The month of February, short as it was, nonetheless saw a brief opportunity to relax and unwind, in the form of some recreational island-painting. We hope the break was restful and rejuvenating, because there's going to be a new island this month...

We've loved the feedback we've gotten about the game thus far, positive and negative, and encourage you to contact us whenever you feel it is necessary!

Our intro log will be going up on the comms on March 4th. Until then, a few quick points:

1. Monsun. The island of Monsun has been present in the archipelago for the last month or two, but it won't be for much longer! If you have any business you wish to complete there, be sure to do it soon; it will be disappearing from the archipelago as of March 20th.

2. New Island. The votes are in, and the majority of characters opted to vote for the island represented by orange flames, a towering mountain, and a village or ruin beside it. This new island will be available on March 10th for exploration.

3. Game Updates. Our mumble-monthly State of the Game posts have declined in frequency, in large part due to a lack of notable updates. However, a new State of the Game post will be going up relatively soon with some important updates, some important thank yous, and also a player poll!

In the meantime, feel free to use this post as an OOC intro and CR meme for the month of March - for new players to introduce themselves, for old players to meet and greet, and for general plotting to occur! If you want to chat or keep up with game updates, we also have both a plurk and a discord channel!

Nari is skittish to say the least and will not handle physical contact by strangers well at all (might zap/burn/freeze when panicked). Coming from a world where she is used to everyone hating her will not help, and she will be more likely to be a sarcastic ass to someone than friendly. Tell us about yourself: I'm in CST, usually don't hang around online super late at night because work is a thing I have to sleep for. Big fandoms are tokusatsu (mostly Kamen Rider and Super Sentai) and Digimon, and I have more Tamagotchi than you can shake a stick at. No really the collection is huge and I've honestly lost count.

Character: I'm playing Kiriya Kujo/Kamen Rider Lazer from Kamen Rider Ex-Aid, the journal is truthkills

Tell us about them: So Kiriya is a doctor--a coroner, to be exact--who transforms into an armored superhero in order to fight against a video game based disease...or, well, literally all the other doctors transform into an armored superhero. He transforms into the hero's motorcycle. (And, yes, he does get his own more relatively normal, "look, I have arms and legs" transformation, but the bike's funniest ok ok.) Anyway, in the course of investigating this game disease, he bit off more than he could chew and got kind of dead. Thanks to a particularly weird crossover special (that makes sense in context after quite a bit of explaining) after that, he is very aware he's dead, thanks. He's not the sort to brood on things, so he'll just keep on going with a smile. Back home, he's got a reputation for being a lying liar who lies, which is a fair point since he and the truth have a complicated sort of relationship. Kiriya's a friendly sort of guy, and he'll enjoy talking to all sorts of new people.

Current plans: So I just got here and have no really clear plans other than "here's this asshole who turns into a bike, let's roll." He's going to tell at least one person he's the last survivor of a race of motorcycle people at some point, probably.

Tell us about them: As the Commandant of the Imperial Knights, Alexei Dinoia did his best to save his world. Unfortunately, his best turned out to be total shit! He's currently...managing? Trying to actually talk to people and find ways to be useful. He has no idea what he's doing.
Current plans: I'm all right with just about any CR, positive or negative; anything goes with me, really, I'm easy. I really appreciate everyone's patience with my erratic tagging schedule, good lord.

Character: Albert Wesker | enhancements
Permissions: I don't have a post up yet, but he sort of warrants one – just in the interest of fair warning, his canon deals a lot with body horror, zombies being just like fucking everywhere, the end of the world, and also eating people? He eats people because of course he does.
Tell us about them: Albert Wesker is CEO of the Umbrella Corporation, and also may have kind of orchestrated an apocalypse that killed over seven billion people but he thinks that's fine because they're all zombies now, and zombies are preferable to humans because he's well-adjusted like that. He also got shoved into a murdergame, made some semblance of friends and then immediately tried to unleash the zombie plague in a sealed environment because, again, well-adjusted.
Current plans: Again, I'm fine with literally anything! One day I will play someone who doesn't have the social skills of a rock but today is not that day.

Tell us about them:

Tachibana is a researcher turned transforming super hero who was. Not the best choice for the job, but was the only choice at the time. Tries hard, fails harder. He's a few weeks post series so he's had a little time to recover from nearly dying in his final fight and taking a long unconscious swim in the ocean and the world almost ending in a swarm of Darkroaches. He's also going to be arriving at the same time as his girlfriend, Sayoko, who died in his arms.

Also he will want to research everything when he recovers from the emotional whiplash his life has been.

edit: also, his transform gear is currently broken, so no one has to worry about Mr. Trigger Happy freaking out and shooting them in the face. :)

Current plans: An overdramatic reunion with Sayoko and eventually getting his research nerd on are about all I got right now since newbie.

Tell us about them: Formerly an arms dealer and the leader of a group of assassins, Yeager's currently getting used to being dead and also being here and boy he hates the latter!! He's incredibly apathetic about pretty much everything, but he hides that beneath the most obnoxious level of cheer you can imagine. Aside from being annoying, he's also really good at fighting and killing things, so he will happily do that whenever the opportunity presents itself. Better than thinking about home!!
Current plans: Honestly, I'm here for anything! Yeager doesn't have a ton of CR, so negative and positive alike are both fun. He's also available for missions just about whenever!

Character: Jack Krauser (Resident Evil | armamenta)
Permissions: Here and also a note that body horror is a thing that could very easily come up with him!
Tell us about them: Krauser was an American soldier who decided that he really hated the military after being sent on a mission without knowing all the details aaaand also they kicked him out after he was severely injured, so he turned to viruses and Albert Wesker, which was clearly not at all an insane decision to make. Krauser's primarily here for all things combat and occasionally stealth, but sometimes he causes an international incident while trying to be stealthy so you can't have everything. He's also a CRAU from a murdergame! The important thing here is that he kind of sort of learned how to make friends (maybe) and ended up attached at the hip to a different version of Albert Wesker, but that's probably fine. He's going to be mad about being here, since he was planning on going home and returning to work for his boss. Why can't he just live a simple life of being a villain, goddamn. Oh yeah, he's also kind of a zombie! So that's fun.
Current plans: No real plans here, he was just apped in so he'll be settling in. Positive CR, negative CR, very confused CR... anything goes! He's here for missions as well, since he also likes to fight things.
Anything else: Please double check his permissions post if body horror is a thing you want to avoid! While he's not likely to bring it up immediately around strangers, he is the sort of person to make off-color comments about the things he's seen and fought in the past so it could possibly come up at some point! (And no I don't have a fun image or gif, just pretend there's one here.)

Well, at least Krauser's got one piece of built-in positive CR! Asgore will be happy to show him the ropes and stuff, and also not tell anybody any of the heinous shit he might know about him. We all keep each other's secrets in Trustfell probably!

Also Asgore likes Yeager well enough from that one conversation! He'd be happy to demonstrate some magic at Not A Party, or to go on missions with either of them whenever. The moral of the story is probably just that Asgore will be friends with literally anyone.

TIM is a depressed chainsmoker from a web series called Marble Hornets (aka that one slender man webseries that Started It All) and a CRAU from sol_raveh. He tries very hard and does generally mean well, but struggles a very lot with his own copious mental health issues. Has somehow progressed to being the rakish uncle of at least several children? Currently runs Denny, which is lifeaftr's sole eatery, and a carpentry place.

THE DRIFTER is from an indie game called Hyper Light Drifter. Silent, blue-skinned wanderer who communicates via sign language and/or a little bobbing sprite thing that hovers by their shoulder and projects text. They're suffering from an incurable terminal illness and are technically just dying in slow motion, but in general they're here to help!! They will happily teach sign language to anyone who asks.

AGENT WASHINGTON is from a web show called Red vs. Blue, which is a halo-based machinima about colorful space marines thats funny until it stops being funny and starts being really fucking sad. in general, he's pretty dependable in a crisis, is a highly accomplished killer, and has a hell of a Traumatic Past. but he's getting better, kinda. he has a tigerlily that wasn't supposed to be his, and actually has it a lot less together than he seems because he doesn't really have anyone left from his home to anchor him whoops

Current plans:

TIM still runs Denny, which is LifeAftr's one and only restaurant. Let me know if you wanna work there! We can handwave if you want, or if you want some good establishing threads for nascent CR that definitely flies for me too. I try to get a Denny mingle up once a month if possible, unless extenuating circumstances make that unlikely or unnecessary. He also has finally established a carpentry nearby, if you need any woodcarvin done!

THE DRIFTER will be super down to explore the new island this month oh boy!! They also were responsible for putting the library down on ensō and finally, FINALLY have some proper time to consider how best to stock it. they are now taking Suggestions From The Audience and will completely sincerely accept anything you have to offer. prehistoric tablet carvings? your old self-insert fanfiction? bad children's books? they will happily put in a request to the storyteller for exactly that, as they have hella stories saved up!!

WASH is floundering post-shadow event because That Sure Did All Happen Huh. will he process any of this under his own power?? heck no he has a castmate to trade barbs with for the duration of the month instead! he should also probably learn how to take care of the tigerlily he inherited from CT like...properly...because currently he's just kind of letting her do whatever lol

He is a Dad who currently doesn't really have anybody to Dad at. He's also a CRAU from a murdergame, which has maybe ironically made him less content with being here in general, because he actually had a group of friends there who liked him even though he's done some child murder, and he misses them.
Current plans: Nothing specific! Asgore's generally a pretty passive person and just happy to maintain his garden and the like if nothing's actively happening. His garden currently has a lot of vegetables and also some tea plants, all of which he's very happy to share! He's also likely to help out pretty much anybody who presents some kind of community project; he's volunteering at the clinic and he brings stuff to Denny fairly often. He's just a little wary of taking on any kind of leadership role.

OOCly, I'd love for him to, uh, talk to literally anyone about anything that's going on with him, ever. He's died a bunch and his kid wants nothing to do with him (which is reasonable because he is the Worst) and he's pretty sure he's never going home again so see meme below

Tell us about them: Protagonist of Final Fantasy IX, that game that referenced previous games. Zidane is a 16 year-old cheerful and outgoing boy who is a thief and will do risk his life to protect others simply because he feels it’s the right thing to do. He also likes pretty girls a lot and while his heart now belongs to certain girl at home, that doesn’t stop him from being distracted by women.

He also has a tail for completely non-important plot and non-mysterious past reasons because Final Fantasy never has heroes with mysterious pasts what are you talking about?

Current plans: I’m brand new to the game so my short term goals are getting Zidane settled in, having him become more familiar with his situation and make friends. His goal will be to work with everyone in the meantime so they can find a way back home. In the long term, to help him survive, get him to be more open and honest about himself.

Until recently, Zidane would be the guy who would help other people but not ask others for help himself. It’s only recently he’s discovered that kinda doesn't work but it’s something he’s trying and sometimes finding it difficult to put into practice so CR getting him to do that a bit would be good!

Tell us about them: Violet is, hard as it may be to believe, not a Saberface, but an ex-child soldier who was conscripted into the army when she was found in the warzone and proceeded to be Unsettlingly Good At Killing For An Actual Baby Child. Following the war, in which she lost both of her arms, she was fitted with a pair of mechanical prosthetics and has been doing her best to adjust to being a civilian. Part of this process has come about from her work as what's known as an "Auto Memoir Doll", which is a sort of Emotional Support Ghostwriter kind of job. She writes letters for people who either can't write themselves or are having a hell of a time trying to put their feelings into words. As of her canonpoint, she's been doing this job for aaaaabout a year and slowly learning how to Be A Person in the process. A certified good girl, with a smile worth protecting.

She's settling... reasonably well into the game, all things considered and has actually been having fun? SAY IT ISN'T SO. I've been pretty quiet with her this past month because I apped with the expectation of having a ton of free time AND THEN WAS UNEXPECTEDLY EMPLOYED so March is hopefully going to be my month of getting a little more done.
Current plans: I talked last time about wanting to establish a letter writing/postal service on the island and I think this month is gonna be when I kick this into gear! It'll be posted later in the month but backdated since I need to get Yuuri settled, but there'll be a network post going up at ssssoooooome? point? this month where Violet plants the seed of that idea.

Aside from that, anything goes! She hasn't made a whole lot of strong CR yet WHICH IS MOSTLY MY FAULT but I'd like for her to start making some friends and building a social circle for herself. SHE'S A GOOD GIRL... COME BE FRIENDS WITH HER!!

An angry angry robot boy. Who is going to be blatantly ignoring any traumatic things he may have been told, realized, or encountered in the past like half hour prior to his arrival. It's fine. He's definitely a ghost inhabiting a robot, and definitely not an AI with an extremely fucked up history. There will be yelling, oh yes, there will be yelling. And figuring out where to settle in is probably going to 80% depend on Wash (the other 20% will depend on pride). Please...please do not allow him to shoot his guns.
Current plans: Aside from the amount of washington trauma that's 'bout to happen, expect this place to start getting real loud and stupid real fast when he's around. rvb is a comedy after all, and they are all idiots.

Tell us about them: Shion was a naive elite child from a perfect city who got liberated by an overdramatic jerk, had an incident with a parasite bee which turned his hair white and his eyes red, learned about the Real World TM but before he could continue his journey of learning how everything was awful he got whisked away to a Horror Tower and spent two and a half years learning that... well yes everything was awful. He died far too many times. The characters there achieved end game but instead of going home to fix things and save his friend he ended up here instead.

February was spend dealing with the fact he'd lost some people and also the Awful that was the shadow event though he did manage to talk to Faust and start working in the clinic and also relax a little for ink painting. He is attempting to keep track of people via a census which will be ongoing!

He has however lost another friend in Gladio and he has no idea where his not!boyfriend Connor is so he's still not great right now.
Current plans: He refuses to go to Monson for Reasons so I'm looking forward to a new island so explorations can happen! He's also adopting Rory the fire bird from Ignis so new pets! I am up for anything if anyone needs an slightly dramatic nerd child let me know!

Tell us about them: Sayoko is a doctor, and would have been part of the cool civilian club that helps out the Kamen Riders in her world if... uh, not for getting killed by a bad guy. Boy, is she ever going to be taking this place to be some kind of weird afterlife! At least she doesn't seem to be alone in that. On the whole she's a nice, practical person with no super powers and only a tiny bit of experience in dealing with weird stuff. She's also Sakuya Tachibana's... girlfriend? Fiancee? It's Complicated, because Complicated is more dramatic when it comes to Kamen Rider, ahahah.
Current plans: I'm looking to get Sayoko to know the other doctor-type people here, and to also find chances to get her exploring and finding neat things! Also, she's got a reunion to have with Tachibana...

Permissions: Permissions are Here, most of it is your pretty standard fare but I would appreciate everyone checking out the last bit regarding Starflight's little trinket called a Dreamvisitor. Exactly what it says on the tin, it allows him to visit the dreams of other people and if you would rather he didn't please let me know. Also there's some dragon stuff about discussing topics like eating people or animals, if that's a thing you would rather not deal with (don't worry Starflight won't eat anyone).
Tell us about them: First off, Starflight is from a canon where humans pretty much been driven to extinction by dragons, who now are the dominant life form on the planet and live in various matriarchal societies, which have all been at war for 20 years, which is great. Starflight is one of 5 dragonets who are prophesized to end the war, and was therefore literally raised under a rock to keep them all safe. And once they escaped were immediately captured by someone else and have spent most of the time in various prisons. It's a fun time.

Starflight is an anxious nerd who loves to read and knows all sorts of facts! He's pretty insecure since he's supposed to have all sorts of magic powers which he doesn't and is supposed to be "superior" and "a natural leader" since he's a NightWing (not be confused with Night Fury) and he is definitely not. He is also cautious to the point of cowardice and is a TERRIBLE fighter. He may be a dragon but honestly like, half the people in the game could probably take him out in a fight. But he's a good kid and super loyal and once he is your friend you won't regret it!
Current plans: Starflight is Brand New so my main goal at the moment is just getting some CR and getting involved in the plot. If you want a fire breathing dragon for anything, let me know. I would especially love CR with other teens or academics, but I'm not picky in the least, I LIVE for unexpected CR and this poor boy needs friends (or more enemies, you can never have enough).

Tell us about them: Faust is bizarre, unpredictable and maybe a little bit on the insane side - and yet also the most qualified and experienced medical practitioner across the isles thus far. But underneath the clown-like behaviour, he's capable of being surprisingly eloquent and serious should the need arise, and he's a competent melee fighter. The giant scalpel isn't just for show.
Current plans: The Nari Nishitani Infirmary is currently undergoing significant renovations, and Faust has put out a call for any and all volunteers who can assist in it's construction, provide medical supplies or sign up as a healer! If that doesn't interest you, I'll also happily take any and all CR thrown my way!

Tell us about them: In a general summary, Izuku's a high schooler from a version of Earth where the majority of the population has superpowers, though he ended up being one of the increasingly rarer few who was born totally powerless and was bullied pretty heavily for it. This didn't stop him from wanting to be a professional superhero, and he managed to impress his superhero idol enough to end up being chosen to inherit his superpower, which he's slowly struggling his way through mastering while attending superhero high school and trying to not die to various villain attacks - all while trying to keep people from discovering he was born "Quirkless."

Izuku's a friendly, anxious nerd child with self-sacrificing tendencies, an empty hole where his self-esteem should be, and a penchant for thinking out loud. Constantly. At mumble volume. He's also a huge superpower and superhero otaku (like, "legit called out as a 'hero otaku' in canon" and everything), studying them almost excessively and ready to launch into commentary or trivia with minimal prompting.

Current plans: Since Izuku's new to the islands, I'm mostly focused on getting some CR hooks in (especially with nonhumans - Izuku's idea of normal includes humanity often looking VERY nonhuman, so actual, legitimate non-human individuals are gonna blow his mind a bit) and getting him to settle down. I'm also going to be looking for opportunities for him to get his nerd on, either with researching things, documenting and organizing information, or just going off on a notebook spree with all these strange new people and their shiny new powers to study.

Permissions: Here! Ginko’s canon involves body horror/eye horror and lots of themes relating to illness, child abuse, and suicide, and his previous game involved even more body horror plus gore and cannibalism. If there is any of that that you’d like to avoid, please don’t hesitate to let me know!
Tell us about them: Ginko used to be sort of a magic pest control guy in fictionalized 1800s Japan, and then he got pulled into an interdimensional hellscape (hi Ryslig) and turned into a fuzzy rock monster. You know, like you do.

Ginko is a compassionate but often kind of distant guy; thanks to his previous wandering lifestyle and the causes thereof, he’s still not quite used to being around the same people for long or accepting the inevitability of getting attached to them… which absolutely is an inevitability with him. Ginko becomes invested in people very quickly, especially children and teenagers, who he will just adopt after one or two conversations. Please help him.
Current plans: At the moment, Ginko doesn’t have much in particular going on, but I am absolutely interested in changing that! He’ll be glad to help any newbies with exploring the land, as well as getting involved in projects so he’s got something to do with himself. Also, in general, he will be super interested in hanging out with other nerds science-and-or-magic-type people, and will of course will worry over any child put in his vicinity.

Tell us about them: Erika is a big gay werewolf who, back home, worked as a club bouncer and occasional assassin. She’s from the same original urban fantasy setting as a couple other characters in-game - namely, Chip Abaroa and Foster van Denend.

In fact, Chip’s dad is her first cousin, and as such she’s basically taken responsibility for them since arriving. Which has been… an adventure, seeing as how Erika has built most of her life around being an irresponsible jackass and just embracing that, and now she’s both in charge of a child and feeling increasingly responsible for Foster’s awful bullshit.
Current plans: Erika would absolutely appreciate opportunities to just, hang out and talk with people, whether about fashion or, you know, violence. Or just gossipping about other folks around the island, that’d be fun too. Additionally, she’ll probably be interested in getting to know anyone Chip’s hanging out with, just on principle!
